Last Updated:Sep 14, 2024

This topic describes how to send a WhatsApp message.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Chat App Message Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Channel management.

  3. On the Channel management page, click a channel ID or click Management in the Operation column that corresponds to the desired channel.

  4. On the channel management page, click Send message in the left-side navigation pane.

    Note

On the page that appears, select a language from the Send language drop-down list. The language specified must be the same as the language of the WhatsApp message template.

  5. In the Send message field, click Select template. In the list of approved templates, select the template that you want to use to send messages.

    Note

The listed templates are filtered based on the language you specified. Only approved WhatsApp message templates in the specified language are listed.

  6. Select an option from the Send account drop-down list.

    Note

The available accounts in the Send account drop-down list are the phone numbers that have been verified on the number management page. For more information about number management, see Manage phone numbers.

  7. Select a message sending type.

    • Timing Send: Messages are sent at the specified time.

    • Immediately: Messages are sent immediately after you click the send button.

  8. Select a fallback policy.

    • If you select None, no fallback policy is used.

    • You can also select an existing fallback policy.

    Note
    • If you want to configure a fallback policy, turn on the SMS service switch on the service settings page. Otherwise, you cannot configure a fallback policy.

    • A fallback is triggered when a fallback policy is configured and a message is not delivered or fails to be sent. A fallback can also be triggered when a message fails to be sent because the message template is deleted or the parameters of the message fail to pass verification.

  9. Select an import method.

Select a method for importing the phone numbers that can receive the message.

    • Number group import: This method is applicable when only a small number of phone numbers need to be imported. If you select this method, click Add number to add phone numbers that can receive the message.

    • EXCEL Upload: Phone numbers are uploaded by using an Excel file. This method is applicable when a large number of phone numbers need to be imported. If you select this method, click Download template and enter phone numbers based on examples in the template. Click Upload file to upload the file that contains the phone numbers you entered.

      Note
      • If you do not select a message template, the Download template button is unavailable. After you select a message template, you can download the template.

      • If the message template contains variables, select EXCEL Upload for the Import method parameter. The table headers in the template cannot be modified in case the system cannot recognize variable parameters.

  10. Set the Variable shared parameter. If you select EXCEL Upload for the Import method parameter, you can specify whether all phone numbers that receive the message receive the same variable.

    • Yes: All phone numbers receive the same variable.

    • No: You need to set different variables for the phone numbers.

      Note

The template that you download varies based on the setting of the Variable shared parameter. If you want different phone numbers to receive different variables, set the Variable shared parameter to No.

  11. Click Send.

You can view message sending details on the Message list page. For more information, see Message list.
