After you activate Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS), you can use all sub-services of ARMS. For payable sub-services, ARMS provides free quotas. After the free quotas are used up, you are charged based on the usage. This topic describes how to activate the different editions of ARMS and how to purchase resource plans.
Prerequisites
An Alibaba Cloud account is created, and real-name verification is complete.
Activate ARMS for free
If you use ARMS for the first time, perform the following steps to activate ARMS for free.
Go to the product page of ARMS. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Log In. Enter your Alibaba Cloud account and password to sign in to Alibaba Cloud.
On the product page of ARMS, click Apply. On the Application Real-Time Monitoring Service page, select Application Real-Time Monitoring Service Terms of Service and click Activate Now.
Upgrade a sub-service
After you activate ARMS for free, you can use the sub-services that are in public preview.
For a sub-service that is already launched, you can activate an edition to get free quotas. If the free quotas are used up, you are charged based on the corresponding billing method.
New billing (pay-by-observable-data)
For new users of Application Monitoring, Managed Service for OpenTelemetry, and Managed Service for Prometheus, ARMS supports the pay-by-observable-data billing mode. If you have enabled the old billing mode, join the DingTalk group (ID: 37120013838) to change the billing mode.

Old billing (pay-by-feature)
Application Monitoring Basic Edition and Browser Monitoring Basic Edition have stopped activation, and will no longer provide technical support from March 31, 2024.
