ApsaraDB for OceanBase allows you to modify instance configurations in a standard or temporary manner for instance scaling.
Principle
Compared with a conventional standalone database, OceanBase Database can provide flexible online scaling based on the distributed architecture. You can scale in or out an OceanBase cluster online while ensuring continuous availability of the cluster. When the external load of a cluster changes, you can add or delete OBServer nodes in a zone and modify the CPU or memory specifications of the OBServer nodes to change the load capacity of the cluster.
Modify the configurations of a cluster instance
ApsaraDB for OceanBase allows you to modify the configurations of a cluster in a standard or temporary manner.
Standard modification provides the following options: storage space scale-in/out, package specification upgrade/downgrade, node addition/deletion, and log disk space scale out. For more information, see References.
Temporary modification refers to temporary upgrade or downgrade of the storage or package specifications. You can make the modification permanent.
Modify the configurations of a tenant instance
ApsaraDB for OceanBase allows you to scale out or in a tenant instance by adjusting the unit config or the number of units. For more information, see References.
Adjust the unit config to improve or reduce the service capability of individual nodes based on business requirements. For more information, see Modify the resource specifications for a tenant.
Adjust the number of units and add service nodes to improve the overall performance of the tenant instance while ensuring the distributed capability.
