Quick Start the AI Model on the Alibaba Cloud Model Studio

This article compares the ability and performance of Model Studio and the original Qwen model regarding image generator and text-based chatting.

AI and GPT are the hottest topics in the last few months, not only in IT industry, it comes to everyone’s plate on the street. So, what is GPT? It stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformers, they are a family of neural network models that uses the transformer architecture. GPT models give applications the ability to create human-like text and content (images, music, and more), and answer questions in a conversational manner.

Alibaba Cloud, one of the top public cloud giants, offers its own AI Model as a Service to the general public. The all new Alibaba Cloud Model Studio is a one-stop LLM Application Development Platform. Speaking about LLM, we would come across LMM, they like a twin. LLM, Large Language Model, is like having a virtual assistant that can write an email, answer questions, or even create a poem, all based on how it's been "taught" with huge amounts of text. Qwen-Chat is the example. LMM, Large Multimodal Model, It doesn't just understand text but can also handle pictures, sounds, and videos. It's like a super-smart AI that can look at a photo, listen to a song, read an article, and understand all of it! Qwen-VL and Qwen-Audio are the examples.

Since the Alibaba Cloud Model Studio is built on Qwen models, it is worth to spend a time to study the advantage of it. In short, it is a world’s leading foundation model and it is the top open source model in LiveBench.

Now, I would like to compare Alibaba Cloud Model Studio and Tongyi Qianwen. Would they be the same? I try to input a set of same command on both platform. To login, you need to:

As you can see, the model that Alibaba Cloud Model Studio could offer now is LLM only, while Tongyi Qianwen could offer both LLM and LMM. In light of the speed, Model Studio is much faster. The overall setting in Model Studio is granular than Tongyi. However, I am afraid it is too early to draw the conclusion since the product line in Alibaba Cloud Model Studio is yet to complete.

As for today, 16 July, Alibaba Cloud Model Studio is only available in Singapore region. Having said that, there is no restriction at all. People from all over the world could make use of it FREE OF CHARGE for the Open-Source Model Service such as Qwen1.5-7B-Chat, Qwen1.5-14B-Chat, adn Qwen1.5-32B-Chat. For Proprietary Model Service such as Qwen-Turbo, Qwen-Plus, and Qwen-Max, you may refer to the offical website for the pricing.
