Elastic Desktop Service:Assign cloud computers to users

Last Updated:Jan 03, 2025

Cloud computers can only be accessed once assigned to users. You can assign cloud computers to users during or after the creation process. This topic describes how to assign cloud computers to users after you create the cloud computers and how to view the users to whom cloud computers are assigned.

Background information

After you assign a cloud computer to a user, the user has the permissions to use the cloud computer. Cloud computers and users have a mutually dependent relationship, allowing multiple cloud computers to be assigned to a single user and a single user to have access to multiple cloud computers.

Note
  • If a cloud computer is assigned to multiple users and one user is connected, other users cannot connect to the cloud computer simultaneously. A new user can connect to the cloud computer only after the current connection is terminated.

  • Due to system latency, it may take several seconds for user information to appear after you assign cloud computers. As a result, users may see a message indicating that no cloud computer is assigned when logging onto Alibaba Cloud Workspace terminals. In this case, users should wait a moment and try again later.

Prerequisites

Assign a single cloud computer to users

  1. Log on to the EDS Enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, find the cloud computer that you want to assign and click the ⋮ icon in the Actions column. Then, click View/Add User.

  5. In the View/Add User panel, click Add User.

  6. In the Add User dialog box, select one or more users to whom you want to assign the cloud computer and click OK.

The users to whom the cloud computer is assigned are displayed in the Added Users section. If you want to remove specific users, select the users and click Remove. In the message that appears, click OK.

    Assignment policy

    Cloud computer-prioritized

If you select this assignment method, each cloud computer is automatically assigned to users. You need to only configure a specific number of users to whom each cloud computer is assigned.

Sample scenario: If you set Users per Cloud Computer to 2 and you need to assign five cloud computers to eight users, the assignment result is displayed in the following figure:

    • Prioritize the assignment of each cloud computer to users

First, assign each cloud computer to a user in the first round. Then, reassign each cloud computer to a different user in the second round based on the order from the first round. The assignment completes until the eighth user is assigned a cloud computer.
