Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) Enterprise supports collaboration. You can request remote assistance from your administrator when you use a cloud computer, or share the desktop of a cloud computer with another user to join a collaboration session. Collaborators can attend collaboration by using an invitation code. This topic describes how to initiate collaboration by sending remote assistance requests and inviting others to join collaboration sessions.
In this topic, the Windows client of Alibaba Cloud Workspace V7.5.1 and a cloud computer of EDS Enterprise are used as examples.
Prerequisites
A cloud computer is connected.
The Contact Administrator for Help feature is enabled for the cloud computer. For more information, see Policies for remote collaboration.
The User Stream Collaboration feature is enabled for the cloud computers of an initiator and a collaborator. For more information, see Policies for remote collaboration.
Applicable scope
Images
Only Adaptive Streaming Protocol (ASP)-based Windows system images of V1.1.0 or custom images created based on the system images, are supported.
NoteYou can contact the administrator or go to the Cloud Computers page in the EDS Enterprise console to check whether your cloud computer uses the ASP protocol.
If you use a high-definition experience (HDX)-based cloud computer and want to initiate collaboration, update its protocol to ASP. For more information, see Update a cloud computer, cloud computer pool, or image to an ASP-based one.
Alibaba Cloud Workspace terminals
Only the following terminals are supported:
Windows client V6.2.0 or later
macOS client V6.2.0 and later
Web client
Request remote assistance
Administrators and end users can initiate remote assistance on Enterprise cloud computers in the following scenarios:
Administrators: An administrator can send remote assistance request to the cloud computers in the EDS Enterprise console. Remote assistance starts when the request is received and accepted. For more information, see Connect to a Linux server.
End users: When you use a cloud computer and encounter issues, you can send a remote assistance request to your administrator. After the administrator receives and accepts the request in the EDS Enterprise console, the administrator sends another remote assistance request to you and provides remote assistance to you after you accept the request.
As an end user, you can perform the following steps to send remote assistance requests:
Open DesktopAssistant of the cloud computer and click Remote Assistance.
In the Remote Assistance Request message, click Send Now.
After your administrator receives and accepts the request, the administrator sends a remote assistance request to you. The Remote Assistance Request message prompts on your cloud computer. You need to click Accept to proceed.
NoteIf your administrator does not respond to your request within 180 minutes, the request expires. In this case, you must initiate another request.
If you want to end the assistance, click End Remote Assistance.
NoteIf you do not find the button, click the icon to call it out.
Collaboration session
You can invite another user to join your collaboration session by sharing the desktop of your cloud computer with or sending the collaboration code to the user.
Initiate collaboration
Open DesktopAssistant on your cloud computer, click Collaborate Session.
In the Collaboration Session message, click Start Collaboration. The Start Collaboration message appears. In the message, click Copy to copy the collaboration code and paste it to the collaborator.
NoteIf you want to stop collaboration, click Discard code.
When the collaborator joins collaboration, the message Collaboration session in progress... appears. When the collaborator exits the collaboration, the message Collaboration session ended appears.
The collaboration code of the shared desktop is always valid until the code is discarded. The collaborator can use the code to join the collaboration again before it ends.
As a collaborator, if you join an ongoing collaboration, the message
The user is in the middle of a collaboration session. Please start the remote assistance session later
appears. Only one collaborator can join the collaboration of a cloud computer, during which remote assistance becomes unavailable.
Join collaboration
Before you join collaboration as a collaborator, obtain the collaboration code from the initiator.
You can use one of the following methods to proceed:
On the resource list of the client, click the icon in the upper-right corner and click Collaboration Session.
Open DesktopAssistant on your cloud computer, choose Collaboration. In the Collaboration Session message, click Join Collaboration.
NoteAfter you join the collaboration, you can click DesktopAssistant on the shared cloud computer to view its running status and apply or cancel the full-screen mode of its desktop.
Enter the collaboration code and click Join Now.
End collaboration
To end collaboration, you can click the icon on the desktop of your cloud computer and click End Collaboration.
When the Collaboration Session message appears, you are prompted
End the collaboration session for this cloud computer?
Then, click End Now.
