Alibaba Cloud allows you to view and manage quotas of your Alibaba Cloud services. You can obtain usage information, apply for increases on quotas, and create alert rules for quotas. This topic describes the prerequisites and procedures for managing service quotas.
Background information
Quota Center allows you to manage the quotas of various Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and many other Alibaba Cloud services work with Quota Center. If you are using multiple Alibaba Cloud services and want to manage the quotas of all your cloud services in one console, you can use Quota Center.
Alternatively, you can individually manage VPC quotas by using the quota management feature provided in the VPC console.
Prerequisites
By default, only the Alibaba Cloud account is authorized to manage quotas in Quota Center. If you want to allow RAM users to manage quotas, you must first grant the RAM user the AliyunQuotasFullAccess permission. For more information, see Authorize a RAM user.
View quotas
You can view the quotas of VPC by using one of the following methods:
Log on to the VPC console. On the Quota Management page, set query conditions as prompted. The quota items and the usage of each item are displayed.
Procedure (Quota Center) For more information, see Query the details of quotas supported by a cloud service.
View quotas in the VPC console.
Procedure (VPC console)
Log on to the VPC console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quota Management page, click the VPC tab in the Service section. In the Quota Type section, select the type of quota that you want to view.
View general quotas
In the Quota Type section, click General Quota.
You can use keywords to search for quotas. Then, you can view the name, description, and usage of the quota.
View API rate limits
In the Quota Type section, select API Rate Limit.
You can use keywords and select a region to search for quotas. Then, you can view the version and rate limit of the API operation.
View privileges
In the Quota Type section, select Privilege.
You can specify the Quota ID condition to search for privileges and view their information such as names and descriptions.
Adjust quotas
Most of the quotas provided are adjustable. If the default quota is unable to meet your business requirements, you can apply for a quota increase by using one of the following methods:
Use the Quota Center console. For more information, see Request a quota increase.
Use the VPC console.
If the application is successful, the increased quota limit will be displayed in the Quota Center console and the service console.
Procedure (VPC console)
Log on to the VPC console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quota Management page, click the VPC tab in the Service section. In the Quota Type section, select the type of quota that you want to adjust.
Adjust general quotas.
In the Quota Type section, click the General Quota tab.
Find the general quota that you want to increase and click Apply in the Actions column.
In the Apply for Quotas dialog box, set the Applied Quotas and Reason parameters, and click OK.
NoteApplications are approved by the technical support team of the corresponding cloud service. When you apply for a quota increase, specify a reasonable quota value and provide as much information as possible. The more justification provided, the more likely your application will be approved.
Application results are sent to you by text message and email.
Alibaba Cloud reviews your application based on the information provided in the application.
To view the status of the application, click Application Records or choose
in the Actions column.If the application is in the Approved state, the quota is increased.
Apply for privileges
In the Quota Type section, select Privilege.
Find the privilege that you want to apply and click Apply in the Actions column.
In the Apply for Privileges dialog box, specify the Quota Value, Time, Reason, and Notify Result parameters. Then, click OK.
NoteIf you do not specify a start time for the validity period, the default start time is the time when the quota increase application is submitted. If you do not specify an end time for the validity period, the default end time is 99 years after the start time. The end time must be later than the start time.
Applications are reviewed and approved by the technical support team for each cloud service. To increase the success rate of your application, you must specify a reasonable quota value and a detailed reason when you submit an application.
Application results are sent to you by using text messages and emails.
To view the status of the application, click Application Records in the Actions column. If the application is in the Approved state, the privilege is acquired.
Create an alert rule for a quota item
You can create alert rules for some quota items by specifying a threshold for quota usage or available quota. If the usage of a quota reaches the specified threshold, the system sends an alert notification to the callback URL that you specified in the alert rule through an HTTP POST request. We recommend that you take the alerts into consideration and apply for a quota increase in advance to avoid unexpected business interruptions.
You can create alert rules by using one of the following methods:
Use the Quota Center console. For more information, see Create an alert rule for a quota item.
Use the VPC console.
You can create alert rules for the following quota items:
Name: vpc_quota_secondary_cidr_num. Description: Maximum number of secondary IPv4 CIDR blocks supported by each VPC.
Name: vpc_privilege_allow_buy_havip_instance. Description: The privilege to purchase HAVIPs.
Procedure (VPC console)
Log on to the VPC console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quota Management page, choose . Find the quota that you want to manage and click Create Alarm Rule in the Actions column.
In the Create Quota Alarm Rule panel, configure the parameters and click OK.
Parameter
Description
Alarm Rule Name
The name of the alert rule.
Alarm Metric
The metric used by the alert rule. You can select Used Quotas, Percentage of Used Quotas, Available Quotas, or Percentage of Available Quotas.
Threshold
The alert threshold. Configure this parameter based on the Alarm Metric parameter.
When the Alarm Metric parameter is set to Used Quotas, alert notifications are sent to the current Alibaba Cloud account if the quota usage of the specified quota item reaches or exceeds the threshold.
When the Alarm Metric parameter is set to Percentage of Used Quotas, alert notifications are sent to the current Alibaba Cloud account if the quota usage of the specified quota item in percentage reaches or exceeds the threshold. Valid values: [50%,100%].
When the Alarm Metric parameter is set to Available Quotas, alert notifications are sent to the current Alibaba Cloud account if the remaining quota of the specified quota item is less than or equal to the threshold.
When the Alarm Metric parameter is set to Percentage of Available Quotas, alert notifications are sent to the current Alibaba Cloud account if the percentage of the remaining quota of the specified quota item is less than or equal to the threshold. Valid values: (0%,50%].
Alarm Callback
The webhook URL to which Quota Center sends an alert notification by using an HTTP POST request.

NoteBy default, Quota Center sends an alert notification about 15 minutes after the specified alert threshold is reached.
If your alert callbacks are integrated with the webhook of a DingTalk chatbot, you must set the custom keyword of the DingTalk chatbot to Alert and then copy the webhook URL as the URL to receive alert callbacks.
In the Actions column of the general quota that you want to manage, click Alert Settings.
In the Alerts dialog box, you can view the created alert rules. You can also click View, Modify, or Delete in the Actions column.
Create a quota template
In scenarios where a quota template is added and in the Enabled state, if new members are added to a resource directory, the system automatically applies the quota template to the new members. Existing members are not affected. You can use a quota template to apply for increases on multiple quotas at a time. This automated approach can improve the efficiency of quota management across your organization.
Prerequisites:
An enterprise management account is used.
A resource directory is enabled. For more information, see Enable a resource directory.
A quota template is enabled. For more information, see Enable the quota template feature.
You can add a quota to a quota template by using one of the following methods:
Use the Quota Center console. For more information, see Add a quota to a quota template.
Use the VPC console.
Procedure (VPC console)
Log on to the VPC console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quota Management page, click the VPC tab in the Service section. In the Quota Type section, select the type of quota that you want to manage.
Add a general quota to a quota template
Click General Quota in the Quota Type section, find the quota that you want to add to a quota template and click Create Quota Template in the Actions column.
In the Create Quota Template dialog box, set the Applied Quotas parameter and click OK.
Add a privilege to a quota template
Click Privilege in the Quota Type section, find the privilege that you want to add to a quota template and click Create Quota Template in the Actions column.
In the Create Whitelist Quota Template dialog box, set the Quota Value, Time, and Notify Result parameters and click OK.
