Notice on update of the CPU utilization and traffic metrics for performance monitoring

Update details

• CPU utilization

  Before the update, Tair provides the following parameters to query the CPU utilization for different instance series types:

  • RedisCpuUsage: suitable for persistent memory-optimized instances and DRAM-based instances that are compatible with Redis 6.0.

  • CpuUsage: suitable for ApsaraDB for Redis Community Edition instances and other Tair instances.

  This update normalizes the preceding parameters and optimizes the related computing logic. After the update, you can ignore the product form when you call the DescribeHistoryMonitorValues operation to query the performance monitoring information of an instance. Regardless of whether you use the CpuUsage or RedisCpuUsage parameter, the system returns the same and more accurate CPU utilization data.

• Traffic metrics

  Before the update, the InFlow, OutFlow, IntranetIn, IntranetOut, IntranetInRatio, and IntranetOutRatio metrics incorporate both the actual business traffic and the traffic generated by the replication process between the master and replica nodes. After the update, the preceding metrics reflect only the actual traffic generated by business operations, excluding the replication traffic.

Impacts and recommendations

• If you have called the preceding operation, continue to use the CpuUsage or RedisCpuUsage parameter to query the CPU utilization of an instance. You do not need to modify your code.

• If you have not called the preceding operation, we recommend that you use the CpuUsage parameter to query the CPU utilization of an instance.

• The reported values of the traffic metrics may appear lower compared to the measurements before the update.
