ApsaraDB for MongoDB:Update the minor version of an ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance

This topic describes how to update the minor version of an ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance to the latest version in the ApsaraDB for MongoDB console.

Prerequisites

  • A replica set or sharded cluster instance is used.

  • The instance is not running the latest minor version. When you use the latest minor version, the Update Minor Version button is not displayed for the instance.

Precautions

  • You cannot downgrade the minor version of an instance after you update the minor version.

  • After you update the minor version of an instance, the instance is restarted and is disconnected from your application for less than 30 seconds. We recommend that you perform the minor version update during off-peak hours or make sure that your application can automatically reconnect to the instance.

  • If the minor version of your instance is not the latest version, the system may update the minor version to the latest version to ensure higher performance and stability when you perform the following operations:

    The minor version of an instance that uses cloud disks or local disks is updated to the latest version.

    Migrate data

    If the instance to which you want to migrate data is a new instance, the minor version of the new instance is the latest version by default.

    Change the configurations of an instance

    The minor version of an instance that uses local disks is updated to the latest version.

    Restore backup data to a new ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance by point in time

    By default, the minor version of the new instance to which data is restored from the source instance is the latest version.

    Restore the databases of an ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance

    By default, the minor version of the new instance to which data is restored from the source instance is the latest version.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Replica Set Instances or Sharded Cluster Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which the instance resides. Then, find the instance and click the ID of the instance.

  2. Click Update Minor Version on the right side of the Specifications section.

    Note

    When you use the latest minor version, the Update Minor Version button is not displayed for the instance.

  3. In the Update Minor Version message that appears, view the version release notes and determine whether to update the minor version of the instance.

    • If you want to update the minor version of the instance, click OK.

    • Otherwise, click Cancel.

    If the instance status changes from Upgrading Version to Running, the minor version update is complete.
