Energy Expert:Configure the basic information of lifecycle inventory

This topic describes the concepts and settings of lifecycle inventories.

Lifecycle inventories refer to the inputs required to produce a product and the outputs of emissions during the production process. Inputs include raw materials, consumables, energy, resource, packaging materials, and transportation. Outputs include waste gas, waste water, and solid waste. On the Lifecycle Model page, click Add Input or Add Output to add an inventory item.

Configure the basic information of inventory

For each inventory item, you need to specify the type, name, quantity, unit, and data source. The quantity refers to the input or output activity data. Enter explanations and remarks for data in the Notes field. Click Upload voucher to upload data files.

Configure the activity data

You can enter the activity data (quantity) by using one of the following methods: Enter manually, Get data item, and Calculate quantity by formula. Move the pointer over Input method of quantity and select a method.

  • If you select Calculate quantity by formula, you can customize parameters and a formula to calculate the activity data. You can also call calculation schemes or parameters to calculate the activity data by formula. For more information, see .

  • If you select Get data item, the activity data comes from data items. This method is mostly used in scenarios where online data is obtained by using API calls. For more information about the concepts and configurations of data items, see . When this method is used, you must make sure that there exists data in data items during the data collection period of the model. Otherwise, model calculation fails due to a lack of the quantity.
