This topic describes how to configure and use calculation schemes and parameters.
When you create product carbon footprint models or organization carbon accounting models, you may use some complex calculation schemes or parameters multiple times. Complex calculation schemes include direct emissions from fossil fuel combustion, the recycling of valuable waste, and direct fugitive emissions from the release of greenhouse gases in the crop planting process, etc. Parameters include the waste recycling rate, metal content, and emission coefficient, etc. Repeated manual configurations of these calculation schemes and parameters are time-consuming and prone to errors or inconsistencies. Energy Expert provides the calculation scheme and parameter management feature to improve the modeling efficiency, accuracy, and standardization.
Only users who have the permissions on the root organization can create, delete, and modify calculation schemes and parameters in the root organization. The users of all sub-organizations and sites can view and use calculation schemes and parameters. Log on to the Energy Expert console and choose Carbon > Calculation Scheme and Parameter Management in the left-side navigation pane.
Manage calculation schemes
Switch to the user who has the permissions on the root organization, select the root organization, and then click the Calculation scheme library tab. Then, you can create, view, modify, and delete calculation schemes. Users who have only the permissions on a sub-organization or site can only view calculation schemes.
You can configure the following parameters for each calculation scheme:
Calculation scheme name: the name of the calculation scheme.
Parameter: the parameter name is required; the parameter value, parameter unit, and remarks are optional.
Calculation formula: the formula used for calculation.
Calculation scheme description: the supplementary information of the calculation scheme.
After you configure or modify the parameters for a calculation scheme, click Save.
Manage parameters
Switch to the user who has the permissions on the root organization, select the root organization, and then click the Parameter library tab. Then, you can create, view, modify, and delete parameters. Users who have only the permissions on a sub-organization or site can only view parameters.
You can configure the following information for each parameter:
Parameter name: the name of the custom parameter.
Parameter value: optional.
Parameter unit: optional.
Parameter description: the supplementary information of the parameter.
After you configure or modify the information for a calculation parameter, click Save.
Use calculation schemes and parameters
Custom calculation schemes and parameters are mainly used in formula-based calculation scenarios. For more information, see Configure the basic information of lifecycle inventory and Match impact factor. When you calculate the activity data or factors by using formulas, you can call the calculation schemes and parameters that you have the permissions to use.
Use a calculation scheme: Click Select from calculation scheme library in the upper-right corner of the Calculat quantity by formula section. In the Select from calculation scheme library panel, select the calculation scheme that you want to use and click Confirm. The parameters and formula in the selected calculation scheme are automatically synchronized.
Use a parameter: In the custom calculation scheme section, find the parameter that you want to use, move the pointer over the Reference icon in the Operation column, and then select Select from parameter library. In the Select parameter panel, select the parameter and click Confirm. The name, value, and unit of the selected parameter are automatically synchronized.
