Quota Center is a service that allows you to manage the quotas of various Alibaba Cloud services. In Quota Center, you can query the quota limits and submit applications to increase the quotas for cloud services.
Features
The following table describes the features of Quota Center in different scenarios.
Scenario | Feature | References |
Query default values and used quotas | In the Quota Center console, you can query the default values and used quotas of cloud services across regions.
Query whether a quota can be increased | After you select a cloud service, you can query quota items and check whether the related quota values can be increased.
Submit applications to increase quotas | In the Quota Center console, you can submit an application to increase an adjustable quota. For quota items whose quota values cannot be increased in the console, you can submit a ticket.
Query application records | In the Quota Center console, you can query all your application records and filter the records by status.
Query the Alibaba Cloud services that support Quota Center | In the Quota Center console, you can query the Alibaba Cloud services that support Quota Center.
Create an alert rule for a quota item | You can create an alert rule for a quota item. If the used quota reaches a specified threshold, the alert rule is triggered and you receive an alert notification. Then, you can increase the quota in advance. |
Terms
Term | Description |
quota | The maximum number of cloud resources that can be used by an Alibaba Cloud account, or the maximum number of operations that can be performed by an Alibaba Cloud account. Quotas for some cloud services are based on accounts. However, quotas for some other cloud services are based on regions. You can view the actual quotas in the Quota Center console. |
adjustable quota | A quota that can be increased. To increase an adjustable quota, you can submit an application in the Quota Center console or submit a ticket. If your application is in the Pending Approval state, new applications cannot be submitted. |
global quota | A quota that is provided for a specific Alibaba Cloud account. |
default value | The initial quota value that is assigned to a cloud service for each account. |
used value | The number of resources that are in use or the number of operations that are performed. |
requested value | The quota value that you want to obtain. After an application is approved, the original quota value is overwritten. |
base quota | The minimum number of guaranteed available resources for an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance. Base quotas are automatically adjusted and allocated before the tenth day of each month based on the usage of your ECS resources. You cannot submit an application to increase the base quotas. If you create ECS instances after the base quota is exceeded, the ECS resources may be unavailable. Note This term is available only for ECS. |
reserved quota | The amount of instance resources that are reserved by resource reservations. When you create instances within a reserved quota, you have guaranteed access to the resources that you request. To increase reserved quotas, you can create the following resource reservations: Note This term is available only for ECS. |
total quota | The maximum number of guaranteed available resources for an ECS instance. A total quota includes a base quota, a reserved quota, and other quotas. Therefore, a total quota is greater than or equal to a base quota. A total quota is automatically adjusted at the same time as the base quota before the tenth day of each month. This ensures that the automatic increases of the total quota match the increases of your daily resource usage. If the number of your vCPUs or instances reaches the related total quota, you cannot purchase new instances. If you want extra ECS instances, you can submit an application to increase the related total quota. After the total quota is increased to the specified value, the system keeps the total quota from falling below this value when the system adjusts the total quota within at least 30 days. Note This term is available only for ECS. |
general quota | The limits on cloud resources that can be allocated to an Alibaba Cloud account. After you create an Alibaba Cloud account, you may need to adjust the limits on cloud resources that can be created. You can apply for increases on general quotas based on your business requirements. For example, you can increase the maximum number of security groups for your account. |
API rate limit | The limits on API calls that an Alibaba Cloud account can make in a specific period of time. After you create an Alibaba Cloud account, you may need to adjust the limits on queries per second (QPS). You can apply for increases on API rate limits based on your business requirements. For example, you can set the maximum QPS of the CreateECS operation to 100. |
whitelist quota | The permissions on the functions, features, specifications, and maintenance status that are not fully available to all users. You can apply for whitelist quotas based on your business requirements. For example, you can apply for a whitelist quota to associate an Anycast EIP with an ALB instance. |
quota template | The combination of one or more quota increase requests for general quotas, API rate limits, and whitelist quotas in a resource directory. Quota templates are used to submit quota increase requests for new members of a resource directory. You can use a quota template to increase the values of multiple quotas at a time. This automated approach can improve the efficiency of quota management across your organization. |
