Elastic Desktop Service:Custom cloud computer templates

最終更新日:Jun 27, 2024

A cloud computer template is a collection of necessary resources for quickly creating cloud computers. You can use a system template or create a custom template based on your business requirements. You can also back up your cloud computer configurations as cloud computer templates and use the templates to create cloud computers with the same configurations. This topic describes how to create, modify, and delete a custom cloud computer template.

Prerequisites

The image that you want to use to create a cloud computer template is available. You can select a system image, a custom image, or a shared image.

A custom image is available if you want to use a custom image to create the cloud computer template. For more information, see Create an image.

A shared image is available if you want to use a shared image to create the cloud computer template. You can copy or share an image to the region in which you want to create the template in advance. For more information, see Copy an image or Share or unshare an image.

Background information

Cloud computer templates are classified into system templates and custom templates. A system template is a default template provided by Alibaba Cloud, and a custom template is a template that you manually create. A template contains all required configurations for creating a cloud computer, such as an image, the vCPU and memory specifications, GPU memory, system disk, and data disk.

Create a cloud computer template

This section describes how to create a custom cloud computer template.

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment > Templates.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Templates page, click Create Template.

  5. In the Create Template panel, set the following parameters based on your business requirements.

    Parameter

    Description

    Template Name

The name of the template. Make sure that the name meets the following requirements:

    Note

The name must be 2 to 128 characters in length. The name must start with a letter but cannot start with http:// or https://. The name can contain letters, digits, colons (:), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).

    Description

The description of the template. Make sure that the description meets the following requirements:

    Note

The description must be 2 to 256 characters in length and can contain letters, digits, punctuation marks, spaces, and carriage returns but cannot start with http:// or https://.

    Specifications

The specifications of the template. You can specify the cloud computer type and vCPUs, GPUs, and memory size by using the drop-down lists. Alternatively, you can leave these drop-down lists unspecified and select a specification directly from the table below the drop-down lists.

    Disks

The sizes of the system disk and the data disk.

    Important
    • By default, ultra disks are used for Enterprise Office cloud computers and General Office cloud computers, and Enterprise SSDs (ESSDs) are used for Enterprise Graphics cloud computers and High Frequency cloud computers. The ESSDs have the same performance level (PL) as those in cloud computer templates. For more information about ESSD PLs, see ESSDs.

    • The capacity ranges of the system disk and data disk vary based on the selected specifications. The actual values displayed on the page shall prevail. The disk capacity must be a multiple of 10. You can set the data disk capacity to 0 for specific specifications, which indicates that no data disk is attached.

    Images

    1. Select an image type in the Type section. Valid values: System Image, Custom Image, and Shared Image.

If you select System Image, you must select the image language from the OS Language section.

    2. Select an image based on your business requirements.

    Note

The initial environment of a cloud computer varies based on the image that is used by the cloud computer. Cloud computers support Windows and Linux images. For more information, see Overview.

  6. Click Create.

On the Custom Templates tab of the Templates page, you can view the created custom template.

Modify a cloud computer template

You can modify only custom cloud computer templates. After you modify a template, the modification is not synchronized to the cloud computers that were previously created by using the template. The following section describes how to modify a cloud computer template.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment > Templates.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the Templates page, find the cloud computer template that you want to modify, click Edit in the Actions column, and then modify the template as prompted.

Delete a cloud computer template

You can delete a cloud computer template that you no longer require. Before you delete the template, take note of the following items:

  • You can delete only custom cloud computer templates.

  • You can directly delete a cloud computer template that is not in use by cloud computers or cloud computer pools.

  • You can directly delete a cloud computer template that is in use by cloud computers.

  • You cannot directly delete a cloud computer template that is in use by cloud computer pools. In this case, you must change a template for the cloud computer pools first.

  • After you delete a cloud computer template, the cloud computers or cloud computer pools created from the template can be used as expected.

To delete a cloud computer template, perform the following steps:

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Deployment > Templates.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the Templates page, find the cloud computer template that you want to delete, click Delete in the Actions column, and then follow the on-screen instructions to delete the cloud computer template.
