Elastic Desktop Service:Start, stop, restart, or release a cloud computer

Last Updated:Sep 19, 2024

After you create cloud computers, you can manage the cloud computers in the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) console. For example, you can start, stop, restart, or release the cloud computers.

Start a cloud computer

You can start one or more cloud computers that are in the Stopped state at a time.

  1. Log on to the EDS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, start one or more cloud computers by using one of the following methods:

    • Single operation: Find the desired cloud computer and click Start in the Actions column.

    • Batch operation: Select one or more cloud computers and click Start/Wake Up in the lower part of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the message that appears, click Confirm.

Stop or restart a cloud computer

You can stop or restart one or more cloud computers that are in the Running state at a time.

Warning

Make sure that end users have saved data and files on cloud computers before you stop or restart the cloud computers to prevent data loss.

Billing

  • After you stop a pay-as-you-go cloud computer, you are charged only for storage resources, such as system disks and data disks, of the cloud computer.

  • After you stop a subscription cloud computer that provides unlimited hours, you are still charged for the computing resources and storage resources of the cloud computer.

  • If the running duration of a subscription cloud computer that provides 120 or 250 hours per month does not exceed the upper limit, you are not charged after you stop the cloud computer. If the running duration of the cloud computer exceeds the upper limit and you want to continue to use the cloud computer, you are charged for additional computing resources. After you stop the cloud computer, you are no longer charged for additional computing resources. For more information, see Billing rules.

  • If you stop an hourly-plan cloud computer, the duration in which the cloud computer is stopped is not counted in hourly plans. Hourly-plan cloud computers are not billed based on the computing resources and storage resources that you use. Therefore, after you stop an hourly-plan cloud computer, no other fees are generated.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EDS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, stop or restart one or more cloud computers by using one of the following methods:

    • Single operation: Find the desired cloud computer and click Stop or Restart in the Actions column.

    • Batch operation: Select one or more cloud computers and click Stop or Restart in the lower part of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the message that appears, click Confirm.

Release a cloud computer

If you no longer require a pay-as-you-go cloud computer, you can release it in the EDS console.

Warning

After you release a cloud computer, the data of the cloud computer is permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved. Make sure that you have backed up data before you release the cloud computer. Proceed with caution.

Limits

  • You can release only pay-as-you-go cloud computers. After a subscription cloud computer expires and you do not renew the cloud computer in a grace period, the cloud computer is automatically released.

  • You can release only cloud computers that are in the Running, Stopped, Expired, or Creation Failed state.

Billing

After you release a cloud computer, you are no longer charged for computing resources (vCPUs, GPUs, and memory) and storage resources (system disks and data disks).

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EDS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, release one or more cloud computers by using one of the following methods:

    • Single operation: Find the desired cloud computer and click Release in the Actions column.

    • Batch operation: Select one or more cloud computers and click Release in the lower part of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the message that appears, click Confirm.
