Elastic Desktop Service:Change the specifications of cloud computers

Last Updated:Oct 14, 2024

The specifications of cloud computers commonly refer to a suite of computing resource configurations, including vCPUs, memory, and GPU memory. The specifications determine the performance of cloud computers. You can upgrade or downgrade cloud computers by changing their specifications as needed. This topic describes how to change the specifications of cloud computers.

Background information

If you change the specifications of a cloud computer, only the configurations of its computing resources are changed, and those of its storage resources and user data remain unchanged. After you upgrade or downgrade a cloud computer, you may need to pay for the price difference or be refunded.

Note

You can change the specifications of monthly subscription (Unlimited) and pay-as-you-go cloud computers.

The following table describes the limits when you change the specifications of a cloud computer.

Operation

Limit

Change specifications

  • You can change the specifications only between cloud computers of the same type. You cannot change the specifications between an Office-based cloud computer and a Graphics-based cloud computer.

  • The specifications of a cloud computer contain a fixed suite of configuration items. When you change the specifications, the change applies to all configuration items. You cannot change only one configuration item.

  • You must wait at least 5 minutes before you perform another specification change on the same cloud computer.

Upgrade a monthly subscription (Unlimited) cloud computer

  • You are charged for the price difference between the original specifications and the new specifications for the remaining duration of the current billing cycle.

  • If a cloud computer is renewed or downgraded within the current billing cycle, you cannot upgrade the cloud computer until the next billing cycle starts.

Downgrade a monthly subscription (Unlimited) cloud computer

  • You can downgrade a cloud computer up to three times per month. When the quota of three times is reached, you can no longer downgrade the cloud computer. The quota is automatically renewed on the first day of the next month.

  • The following formula is used to calculate the refundable amount: Refundable amount = Remaining duration × (Price difference between the original and new specifications/Total duration). The actual refundable amount displayed on the refund page shall prevail. EDS refunds based on the payment method that is used at the time of purchase. Consumed coupons are not refunded.

    Note

The remaining duration refers to the remaining period of time during which the cloud computer is available before you downgrade it. The price difference refers to the difference in prices between the original specifications and the new specifications of the cloud computer.
