ApsaraVideo VOD supports pay-by-data-transfer and pay-by-bandwidth billing methods for its acceleration service. You can switch between billing methods as needed. This topic describes how to switch the billing method for the acceleration service and when the new method takes effect.
Billing methods
For ApsaraVideo VOD, you can switch the billing method only for the acceleration service. The acceleration service supports two billing methods, and you can switch between them as needed.
To activate the pay-by-bandwidth billing method, submit a ticket or contact Alibaba Cloud sales.
Pay-by-data-transfer (default): You are charged based on the total monthly outbound data transfer using tiered pricing for each region. This billing method is suitable for services that experience significant traffic fluctuations, bandwidth peaks, and have a daily bandwidth utilization of less than 30%.
NoteTo prevent losses from malicious traffic, the default maximum bandwidth for the pay-by-data-transfer billing method is 10 Gbps.
Pay-by-bandwidth: You are charged based on the daily peak bandwidth in each region or the monthly peak bandwidth for your account. This billing method is suitable for services with relatively stable traffic and daily bandwidth utilization that exceeds 30%. It is also a good choice for services that have high traffic volumes and experience unpredictable traffic peaks.
Prerequisites
You must configure an accelerated domain name. For more information, see Add an accelerated domain name.
Limits
You can switch the billing method again only after the new billing method takes effect.
Switching method
By default, the acceleration service uses the pay-by-data-transfer billing method. To change the billing method to pay-by-bandwidth, or to learn more about its billing rules and pricing, submit a ticket or contact Alibaba Cloud sales.
The new billing method takes effect at 00:00 on the second calendar day after the current billing cycle ends. This process takes 1 to 10 minutes.
