Enable the log collection feature

Initially configure CloudLens for EBS

1. Log on to the Log Service console.

2. In the Log Application section, click the Cloud Service Lens tab, then click CloudLens for EBS.

3. Enable CloudLens for EBS by following the on-screen instructions.

   During activation, Alibaba Cloud will automatically create the service-linked role AliyunServiceRolePolicyForSLSAudit and authorize CloudLens for EBS to use this role for collecting second-level monitoring data from disks. For more details, see Manage the service-linked role AliyunServiceRoleForSLSAudit.

   When you enable CloudLens for EBS, the system automatically authorizes CloudLens for EBS to assume the service-linked role AliyunServiceRolePolicyForSLSAudit. This allows CloudLens for EBS to collect logs and metrics from cloud disks. For more information, see Manage the AliyunServiceRoleForSLSAudit service-linked role.

Manually enable data collection

1. Log on to the Log Service console.

2. In the Log Application section, click the Cloud Service Lens tab, then click CloudLens for EBS.

3. On the EBS disk Access tab of the Access Management page, find the disk you want and click Enable.

4. Enable the data collection feature.

   • If you are enabling this feature for the first time, in the Set a destination logstore dialog box, select the destination region and click Confirm.

     Important

     After the destination region is selected and confirmed, it cannot be changed. Simple Log Service will create a central project and metricstore in the selected region to store second-level monitoring data from the disks.

   • If you have previously enabled this feature, in the Set a destination logstore dialog box, click Confirm.

   After the data collection feature is enabled, Simple Log Service will begin collecting second-level monitoring data from the specified disk into the central logstore (metricstore).

Configure automatic data collection

1. Log on to the Log Service console.

2. In the Log Application section, click the Cloud Service Lens tab, then click CloudLens for EBS.

3. On the Automatic Collection Configurations tab of the Access Management page , click the icon.

4. Set the collection conditions.

   In standard mode, conditions are linked with an AND relationship. Advanced mode allows for flexible combination and nesting of conditions.

   You can set collection conditions based on attributes such as region, instance ID, billing method, disk type, and tags. For example, to collect data only from disks with a subscription billing method, set the following condition:

   

5. Click the icon.

6. Click Save in the upper-right corner of the page.

   If you are configuring the automatic data collection for the first time, the system will prompt you to select the destination region.

   Important

   After the destination region is selected and confirmed, it cannot be changed. Simple Log Service will create a central project and metricstore in the selected region to store second-level monitoring data from the disks.

   After the configuration, Simple Log Service will begin collecting second-level monitoring data from the disks (including those created in the future) into the central logstore (metricstore).
