PolarDB:Specifications of Standard Edition compute nodes

This topic describes the specifications of compute nodes for PolarDB for PostgreSQL Standard Edition.

Two categories are provided for Standard Edition compute nodes: General-purpose and Dedicated.

  • General-purpose: Idle computing resources such as CPUs are shared among clusters on the same server for cost-effectiveness.

  • Dedicated: Computing resources such as CPUs that are allocated to each cluster are exclusive to the cluster. This improves the stability and reliability.

Maximum IOPS

  • The maximum IOPS indicates the theoretical limit. We cannot guarantee that the nominal values can be achieved in all scenarios, because the IOPS is affected by the size of disks that you purchase.

  • For more information about the ESSD performance, see ESSDs and ESSD AutoPL disks.

  • Multiple nodes share the IOPS of ESSDs. For example, if a cluster uses compute node specifications of 8 cores and 32 GB memory and PL1 ESSDs, and contains one primary node and three read-only nodes, the four nodes share the same storage performance. The total IOPS of the four nodes cannot exceed the upper IOPS limit of PL1 ESSDs, which is 50,000. In addition, whether the upper performance limits of PL1 ESSDs can be reached varies based on the size of the purchased disks.
