Before you use Data Security Center (DSC) to classify databases and marks them with specific risk levels, you must purchase the corresponding authorization quota of database instances and Object Storage Service (OSS) storage capacity. Sensitive data detection and de-identification consumes the authorization quota. This topic describes the consumption and release of authorization quota and how to increase the authorization quota to help you better use DSC.
Consume the authorization quota
Database instances
After you grant access to a database instance, the database instance is moved from the Not authorized tab to the Authorized tab. A database instance authorization quota is consumed. only one authorization quota is consumed regardless of whether one or more databases under the database instance are connected to DSC.
After you grant access to a database instance, you can view the change in the authorization quota of database instances on the Asset Authorization Management page.
No authorization quota is consumed when you grant access to an ApsaraDB for Redis instance.
OSS storage capacity
DSC calculates the consumed quota of OSS storage capacity based on the amount of data stored in the authorized OSS buckets.
Recover the authorization quota
After you revoke access to a database instance, the database instance is moved from the Authorized tab to the Not authorized tab, and the authorization quota consumed by the database instance is recovered.
If you do not revoke access to a database instance, the corresponding authorization quota will still be consumed even if your database instance is released.
After you revoke access to an OSS bucket, the OSS storage capacity that has been consumed by the bucket is recovered.
Increase the authorization quota
If the authorization quota is insufficient, the newly added databases cannot be connected to the DSC console to use the corresponding features. You can upgrade the specifications to purchase more authorization quota for database instances or OSS storage capacity.
Log on to the DSC console.
On the Workbench page, click Upgrade Now.
You can also click Upgrade in the upper-right corner of the Authorization Management page.
On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, specify the authorization quota that you want to purchase.
If you want to increase the quota of database instances, set the number of database instances to the total number of database instances that you want to retain after the upgrade. For example, if your quota already has five database instances before the upgrade and you want to increase three database instances, you must set the number of database instances to 8.
If you want to increase the quota of OSS storage capacity, set the OSS storage capacity to the total amount of OSS storage capacity that you want to retain after the upgrade. For example, if your quota already has an OSS storage capacity of 1,000 GB before the upgrade and you want to increase the quota of OSS storage capacity by 1,000 GB, you must set the OSS storage capacity to 2,000 GB.
