This topic describes how resource statuses change and what you should do when your ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ instance expires or your Alibaba Cloud account has insufficient balance. To ensure business continuity, we recommend that you renew your instance or top up your account as soon as possible.

Subscription instance

A subscription instance is available until it expires, regardless of whether your Alibaba Cloud account has sufficient balance. However, you cannot purchase more instances or upgrade or renew an existing instance if your account balance is lower than the required amount.

The following figure describes the status changes of an expired instance and the related resources:Instance expiration
  • Before an instance expires:

    The instance runs normally.

  • Within seven days after the instance expires:
    • ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ stops providing services. You can no longer use the console or call API operations.
    • However, the instance and the related metadata, such as topics and consumer groups, are retained for seven days after the instance expires.
    • You can perform the steps in Renew an instance to renew the instance. After you renew the instance, it runs normally again.
  • Seven days after the instance expires:

If you do not renew the ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ instance within seven days after it expires, the instance and its metadata, such as the topics and consumer groups, are all deleted permanently and can no longer be recovered.

Pay-as-you-go instance

ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ bills you on an hourly basis. At the beginning of each hour, ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ generates the bill for the previous hour and deducts the fees from your Alibaba Cloud account balance. Bills are automatically generated and the time at which they are delivered may vary.

If your account balance is less than the payment due, the ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ service is affected in the following ways:
  • Within the overdraft limit or grace period

If the sum of overdue payments is less than the overdraft limit, or the overdue payment is within the grace period, ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ continues to provide services, and bills continue to be generated.

  • Beyond the overdraft limit or grace period
    • If the sum of overdue payments exceed the overdraft limit, or the overdue payment has exceeded the grace period, ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ stops providing services. You can no longer use the console or call API operations.
    • However, the instance and the related metadata, such as topics and consumer groups, are retained for seven days after the payment becomes overdue.
    • You can make the payment during this period to continue using your ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ instance.
  • Seven days after the instance is stopped

If you do not make the payment within seven days after your ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ instance is stopped, the instance and its metadata, such as the topics and consumer groups, are all deleted permanently and can no longer be recovered.
