By default, a PolarDB-X instance is assigned a private endpoint when the instance is created. You can use the private endpoint to connect your applications and MySQL clients on Alibaba Cloud Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances to databases on the PolarDB-X instance. If you need to access the PolarDB-X instance over the Internet, you must apply for a public endpoint for the PolarDB-X instance. This topic describes how to apply for and release a public endpoint.
Apply for a public endpoint
Log on to the PolarDB for Xscale console.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the target instance is located.
On the Instances page, click the PolarDB-X 2.0 tab.
Find the target instance and click its ID.
- In the Connection Information section of the Basic Information page, click Apply for Public Endpoint in the upper-right corner.
- In the message that appears, click OK. Note If you want to connect to the PolarDB-X instance by using the public endpoint, you must add the public IP address of your client to a whitelist of the instance. For more information, see Configure whitelists.
Release a public endpoint
Log on to the PolarDB for Xscale console.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the target instance is located.
On the Instances page, click the PolarDB-X 2.0 tab.
Find the target instance and click its ID.
- In the Connection Information section of the Basic Information page, click Release Public Endpoint in the upper-right corner.
- In the message that appears, click OK. Note After you release the public endpoint, you cannot use the public endpoint to connect to the instance. After the public endpoint is released, we recommend that you remove the corresponding public IP address from the whitelist to ensure data security. For more information, see Configure whitelists.
