This topic describes how to enable the cold data archiving feature for a cluster and how to view the information about the cold data archived in Object Storage Service (OSS).
Supported versions
Your cluster must meet the following requirements:
The cluster is of Cluster Edition and uses one of the following PolarDB for MySQL versions:
PolarDB for MySQL 8.0.1.1.31 or later
PolarDB for MySQL 8.0.2.2.9 or later
The cluster is of Multi-master Cluster (Database/Table) Edition and uses PolarDB for MySQL 8.0.1.0.13 or later.
Limits
You cannot backup or restore cold data tables in OSS. Cold data tables in OSS are skipped by default when a cluster is restored from backups. For more information about backup and restoration, see Overview.
You cannot access cold data tables in OSS from a secondary cluster in a GDN. For more information about how to manage a secondary cluster in a global database network (GDN), see Manage a secondary cluster.
Enable cold data archiving
Log on to the PolarDB console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Clusters.
In the upper-left corner, select the region in which the cluster that you want to manage is deployed.
On the Clusters page, click the name of the cluster.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Data Archive (Cold Data) tab, click Enable.
View information about the cold data archived in OSS
After you enable the cold data archiving feature, you can view information about the cold data archived in OSS buckets on the Cold Data Archiving page, including the amount of archived cold data and information about the archived databases and tables.
