ApsaraDB RDS:Lifecycles of major engine versions

Last Updated:Oct 24, 2024

This topic describes the lifecycles of PostgreSQL versions.

The PostgreSQL community releases PostgreSQL versions in a quick manner and plans the end of life (EOL) for earlier versions in phases. ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL no longer updates the kernel versions of RDS instances that run phased-out PostgreSQL versions. The updates include new features, vulnerability fixes, and bug fixes. This topic describes the schedule for the EOL of each PostgreSQL version. When you perform operations, such as instance creation, major engine version upgrade, or instance migration, you can select an appropriate major engine version based on the schedule. This helps reduce impacts on the RDS instance. For more information, see Create an ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL instance, Upgrade the major engine version, or Overview of data migration methods.
