Elastic Desktop Service:Improve cross-region access by using Global Accelerator (GA)

Last Updated:Feb 28, 2026

Activate Global Accelerator (GA) for an office network to reduce latency and eliminate screen stuttering when end users access cloud computers across regions over the Internet.

When to use GA

End users in one region access cloud computers deployed in a different region. For example, end users in China (Shanghai) and China (Hangzhou) access cloud computers in Germany (Frankfurt). Without acceleration, traffic traverses the public Internet, which causes high latency and a poor experience. After you activate GA, end users connect through optimized network paths.

Billing

GA incurs additional charges. For more information, see Billing rules.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that:

  • You have an advanced office network. Basic office networks do not support GA.

  • The office network is in a supported region

Supported regions

GA is available in the following regions: China (Shenzhen), China (Guangzhou), China (Chengdu), China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Ulanqab), China (Shanghai), China (Hangzhou), China (Hong Kong), Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Thailand (Bangkok), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) Edge POP, Indonesia (Jakarta), Philippines (Manila), South Korea (Seoul), US (Silicon Valley), US (Virginia), Canada (Toronto) Edge POP, Canada (Vancouver) Edge POP, Mexico, Germany (Frankfurt), UK (London), and Japan (Tokyo).

Activate GA for an office network

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Networks & Storage > Office Networks.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Office Networks page, find the target office network and click its ID.

    Important

The office network must be an advanced office network. Basic office networks do not support GA.

  5. In the Network Information section, click Activate Now to the right of the Global Accelerator parameter.

  6. In the GA Instance Configurations step, configure the following parameters and click Next.

    Parameter

    Description

    Example

    GA Instance Name

The name of the GA instance. The name must be 2 to 128 characters in length and can contain letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-). It must start with a letter.

    ga-for-office-network

    Billing Method

You are charged instance fees, Capacity Unit (CU) fees, and data transfer fees for pay-as-you-go standard Global Accelerator instances. For more information about instance fees and CU fees, see Billing of pay-as-you-go GA instances. For more information about data transfer fees, see Pay-by-data-transfer.

    Pay-as-you-go

    Resource Group

The resource group to which the GA instance belongs.

You do not need to specify this parameter.

    Terms of Service

The first time you activate the service, read and agree to the terms of service.

    N/A

  7. In the Configure Region to Accelerate and Allocate Bandwidth step, configure the following parameters and click OK.

    Parameter

    Description

    Example

    Accelerated Region

The region nearest to your end users. Click Add Region to select more regions and click Add to List.

    China (Shanghai) and China (Hangzhou)

    Allocate Bandwidth

Select a bandwidth allocation mode. Allocate Bandwidth by Region assigns a unique peak bandwidth to each selected region. Batch Set applies a single peak bandwidth across all selected regions.

    Batch Set

    Set Bandwidth

The peak bandwidth for the accelerated regions.

    200 Mbps

Verify the result

After you activate GA, Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) Enterprise automatically creates GA instances for your office network.

Note

These GA instances are exclusively designed to accelerate access to cloud computers. You can view their configurations in the GA console, but you cannot modify them.

Manage GA after activation

In the Network Information section of the office network details page, click View Configurations to the right of the Global Accelerator parameter. On this page, perform the following operations as needed.

  • View metrics and access logs

Click Go now at the top of the page to go to the GA console. In the GA console, view metric graphs and check access logs.

  • View bills

On the Instance Information tab, click Bill Query in the Billing Information section.

  • Change acceleration regions

On the Accelerated Region tab, click Add Region to Accelerate. In the panel that appears, add or remove regions, and then click Confirm.

  • Modify bandwidth

On the Accelerated Region tab, click Edit Bandwidth. In the panel that appears, modify the bandwidth allocation settings, and then click Confirm.

  • Stop global acceleration

In the upper-right corner of the page, click Stop Global Acceleration. In the confirmation message, click OK.

    Warning

After you stop global acceleration, all resources associated with your GA instances are released, including accelerated IP addresses. Traffic forwarding will cease, and this action cannot be reversed.
