Elastic Desktop Service:Manage software clients

Last Updated:Jun 20, 2024

This topic describes how to manage the software clients that are used by end users to connect to cloud computers. This topic also describes how to configure forcible updates for the software clients.

View information about a software client

If an end user uses your organization ID to log on to a Windows client or a macOS client, you can view the details of the client in the console.

Prerequisites

The Windows client or macOS client is V7.0.0 or later in version.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Terminals.

  3. On the Terminals page, click the Software Clients tab to view the details of automatically added software clients. You can view information such as the client type and last logon user.

    • If you want to set a name for the software client for easy identification, click the 修改.png icon in the Terminal Alias column, enter a custom name, and then click OK.

    • If you want to delete a software client, click Delete in the Actions column and follow the instructions on the page.

What to do next

If you want an end user to log on to only a specified software client, you can bind the software client to the user. For more information, see Bind a terminal or software client to a convenience account.

Configure forcible updates of software clients

You can configure forcible updates for Windows clients and macOS clients. This way, the software clients are always up to date and end users can use all features on cloud computers in a safe manner. After you enable this feature, Elastic Desktop Service pushes a forced update task to the Windows clients and macOS clients in your Alibaba Cloud account when updates become available. When end users log on to the software clients, they must update the clients before they can proceed to connect to cloud computers.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources & Terminals > Terminals.

  2. On the Terminals page, click Terminal Update in the upper-right corner.

  3. On the Terminal Update page, click the Software Clients tab and turn on Forcible Update to enable forcible updates. You can turn off the switch if you no longer require this feature.
