If you no longer require a Web Application Firewall (WAF) instance, you can terminate the WAF service. This topic describes how to terminate the WAF service.
Background information
We recommend that you terminate the WAF service in the following scenarios:
You no longer require your pay-as-you-go WAF instance.
Your subscription WAF instance expired, and you no longer require the instance.
You want to change the billing method of your WAF instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription.
You want to change the billing method of your WAF instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go, and the instance expired.
Before you terminate the WAF service, make sure that the DNS records of the websites that are added to your WAF instance point to the origin server. For information about how to modify a DNS record, see Modify a DNS record.
After you terminate the WAF service, all configurations of the websites that are added to your WAF instance are deleted. If a request is still redirected to your WAF instance, the request cannot be forwarded to the origin server, and the website cannot be accessed.
Prerequisites
Subscription WAF instance: The instance expired.
Pay-as-you-go WAF instance: No requests or few requests are redirected to the pay-as-you-go WAF instance in the previous two days.
Procedure
Log on to the WAF 3.0 console. In the top navigation bar, select the resource group and region of the WAF instance. You can select Chinese Mainland or Outside Chinese Mainland.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Overview. If no protected objects are added to the instance, the Welcome to Web Application Firewall (WAF) page is displayed. You can click Go to Console in the upper-right corner of the page to view the Terminate WAF Service button.
In the Protected Assets section of the Overview page, click Terminate WAF Service.
NoteIf your WAF instance is a subscription instance, the Terminate WAF Service button appears only after the instance expires.
Confirm that the DNS records of your websites point to the origin servers. Then, click OK.
What to do next
If you want to continue using WAF after you terminate the WAF service, you can purchase a new WAF 3.0 instance on the Web Application Firewall buy page. For more information, see Purchase a subscription WAF 3.0 instance and Purchase a pay-as-you-go WAF 3.0 instance.
