Vector Retrieval Service:Billing

Last Updated:Aug 06, 2024

This topic describes the billing of DashVector.

Billing method

DashVector supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method.

Note

The pay-as-you-go billing method allows you to pay for the service after you use the service. If you create a DashVector cluster, relevant fees are automatically deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account every hour based on the billing rules of the cluster.

Billing rules

  • Billing formula: Unit price based on cluster specification × Billing duration × Number of replicas

  • Billing duration: Billing starts when a pay-as-you-go cluster is created and ends when the cluster is released.

  • Billing period: The service is billed every second.

Bill generation cycle

Bills of DashVector clusters in pay-as-you-go mode are generated on an hourly basis based on UTC+8. If the available amount of your account is less than the value of the bill to be settled, you receive a text message or email reminder of insufficient balance. The amount of your account includes the balance in your Alibaba Cloud account and vouchers.

Cluster specification change

  • If you upgrade a cluster to a higher specification, the pay-as-you-go cluster is charged on an hourly basis based on the unit price that corresponds to the higher specification.

  • You cannot downgrade a cluster to a lower specification.

Example

If you modify the cluster specification after you create a pay-as-you-go cluster, an order is generated to charge you for the cluster based on the current specification. The original order automatically becomes invalid.

If you modify the cluster specification within a billing cycle, multiple orders are generated. The start time and end time of each order correspond to the point in time when the cluster specification becomes effective and loses effectiveness.

For example, you create a pay-as-you-go cluster of P.2xlarge at 11:00:00 and upgrade the specification of the cluster to P.4xlarge at 11:30:00. Two orders are generated between 11:00 and 12:00.

  • The first order corresponds to the time period from 11:00:00 to 11:30:00, during which the cluster is billed based on the unit price of P.2xlarge clusters.

  • The second order corresponds to the time period from 11:30:00 to 12:00:00, during which the cluster is billed based on the unit price of P.4xlarge clusters.

Overdue payments

Warning

If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, service shutdown occurs on your clusters. The system will notify you to top up your account to prevent an impact on your business.

  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, all pay-as-you-go DashVector clusters within the account become overdue.

  • If a cluster is shut down for seven days, the cluster is automatically released, and all data in the cluster is deleted and cannot be restored.

Important

After a cluster is released, data in the cluster cannot be restored.
