This topic describes how to unsubscribe from prepaid resources such as subscription resources or resource plans that you no longer use. Pay-as-you-go resources do not support unsubscription. You can stop and release pay-as-you-go resources after you back up the required data, and the billing for the resources immediately stops.

Check whether self-service unsubscription is supported
If you no longer use a prepaid resource such as a subscription resource or resource plan, visit the Unsubscribe page to check whether the resource supports self-service unsubscription. For more information, see Start unsubscription. If you want to check whether a resource supports self-service unsubscription before you purchase the resource, you can refer to the information provided in Resources that support self-service unsubscription.
Scenarios in which self-service unsubscription is not supported
The resource is billed based on the pay-as-you-go method. Pay-as-you-go resources do not support unsubscription. You can stop and release such resources after you back up the required data, and the billing for the resources immediately stops.
The resource does not support unsubscription. For more information about the resources that do not support unsubscription, see Unsubscription rules.
The resource is purchased in a promotion that does not support unsubscription.
The resource is associated with paid images in Alibaba Cloud Marketplace.
Your unsubscription quota for Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances is exhausted.
Your instance has unpaid orders.
The settlement currency used in your purchase order is different from the current one of your account.
Your instance has security risks.
The refundable amount of the resource is zero.
If you encounter an issue that is not described in the preceding list, or a resource supports unsubscription as per its Terms of Service but does not support self-service unsubscription, you can submit a ticket to request manual review and unsubscription.
Impacts
Settlement: If you unsubscribe from a resource that is in use and the related unsubscription conditions are met, the fee for the unused resource is refunded based on the unsubscription rules of Alibaba Cloud. For more information, see Unsubscription rules.
Data processing: If you unsubscribe from a data storage resource, such as an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) or ApsaraDB RDS instance, your data is deleted upon unsubscription. Make sure that you back up all required data before unsubscription.
Service termination: After you successfully unsubscribe from a resource, Alibaba Cloud immediately stops providing related services, and the services that depend on the resource are also terminated. In this case, the functionalities provided by the resource are no longer available. If you want to use the functionalities, you must repurchase the required resource. For example, if you unsubscribe from an ECS instance that is used to deploy a Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) cluster, the ACK cluster can no longer use the computing resources and functionalities provided by the ECS instance.
Rules
Before you unsubscribe from a resource, you must read the unsubscription rules and the methods for calculating refundable amounts. For more information, see Unsubscription rules.
Unsubscribe from a resource
You can unsubscribe only from a PC. You cannot unsubscribe by using a mobile device, including the Alibaba Cloud app or a mobile browser.
Log on to your Alibaba Cloud account and go to the Unsubscribe page. Check the order status of the resource that you want to manage.
The resource in an effective order is displayed on the Unsubscribe Resource or Unsubscribe from resources that are being used tab. If you unsubscribe from a resource on either tab, the resource becomes invalid in the current order and pending orders. In this case, the in-use resource becomes unavailable, and the renewals for the resource are canceled.
The resource in a pending renewal order is displayed on the Unsubscribe Renewal Period tab. If you unsubscribe from a resource on either tab, the in-use resource remains valid and is not affected in the current order, and the renewals for the resource are canceled in the pending orders.
On the Unsubscribe from resources that are being used tab, unsubscribe from a resource based on the order status.
Unsubscribe from an effective order
You can unsubscribe from an effective order on the Common Cloud Services or Resource Plans tab.
If you unsubscribe on the Common Cloud Services tab, you can set the Type parameter to Partial Refund or Nonrefundable.
You can unsubscribe from up to 50 resources at a time. You can perform the batch operation only on resources of the Nonrefundable type. The specific refundable amount is subject to the rules released by Alibaba Cloud.
On the Regular Cloud Resource tab, configure the Name, Instance ID, and Created At parameters to query resources. Find the resource that you want to manage and click Unsubscribe Resource in the Actions column. Alternatively, select multiple resources and click Batch Unsubscribe Resources.
On the Unsubscribe Resource page, confirm the resource information, unsubscription rules, and refundable amount. Confirm and select the options in the lower part of the page. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the unsubscription.
If you unsubscribe on the Resource Plans tab, you can set the Type parameter to 5-day Money-back Guarantee or Partial Refund.
You can unsubscribe from up to 50 resources at a time. You can perform the batch operation only on resources of the Nonrefundable type. The specific refundable amount is subject to the rules released by Alibaba Cloud.
On the Resource Plans tab, configure the Name, Instance ID, and Order at parameters to query resources. Find the resource that you want to manage and click Unsubscribe Resource in the Actions column. Alternatively, select multiple resources and click Batch Unsubscribe Resources.
Cancel a pending renewal order
Log on to your Alibaba Cloud account and go to the Unsubscribe page.
Click the Unsubscribe Renewal That Does Not Take Effect tab. Configure the Commidity Name and Instance ID parameters to query resources. Find the resource that you want to manage and click Unsubscribe Resource in the Actions column. Alternatively, select the resources that you want to manage and click Batch Unsubscribe Resources. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the unsubscription.
If a resource is renewed multiple times, you can click the drop-down list in the Updated Expiration Time column to cancel one or more orders of the resource at a time.

Refund arrival time
The arrival time and channel of your refund vary based on the payment method of your order. For more information, see Refund destinations.
After the refund is complete, you can view the record in your credit card, PayPal, Paytm, or Alibaba Cloud account.

View the unsubscription history
Log on to your Alibaba Cloud account and go to the Unsubscribe page. Click Unsubscribe Order Details to view the unsubscription history of your account.
In the list on the Orders page, find the order that you unsubscribed from and click View Details in the Actions column. On the Order Details page, you can view the following information: Refund Status, Unsubscribe To, Refund Time, and Refund Amount.
