Tablestore:Specify an alert notification method for a backup plan

After you specify an alert notification method for a backup plan, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications by using the specified alert notification method when a backup job fails. You can specify an alert notification method and the alert contacts or contact groups to receive alert notifications based on your business requirements.

Background information

Cloud Backup provides the following alert notification methods for a backup plan: Disabled, Same as Backup Vault, Notify Alibaba Cloud Account, and Custom. By default, Same as Backup Vault is selected. Change the alert notification method based on your business requirements.

Alert notification method

Description

Disabled

The alert notification feature is disabled.

Same as Backup Vault

The alert configuration of the backup plan is the same as that of the backup vault configured for the backup plan. By default, alert notifications are sent to your Alibaba Cloud account by email.

Note

To view or change the alert notification method of a backup vault, log on to the Cloud Backup console. For more information, see Manage backup vaults.

Notify Alibaba Cloud Account

Alert notifications are sent to your Alibaba Cloud account by email.

Custom

Alert notifications are sent to the custom alert contacts by email.

Usage notes

  • Alert contacts receive an alert notification about one hour after a backup job fails.

  • If you specify an alert notification method for both a backup vault and a backup plan that uses the backup vault, the alert configuration of the backup plan prevails.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Alert Notification Method panel.

    1. Log on to the Tablestore console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Data Backup.

    3. On the Data Backup page, select the region in which the resources that you want to back up reside.

      The system automatically obtains the instance list in the selected region.

    4. In the instance that you want to manage, find the backup plan for which you want to specify an alert notification method. Choose More > Alert Settings in the Actions column.

  2. In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an alert notification method based on your business requirements.

    By default, Same as Backup Vault is selected. Change the alert notification method based on your business requirements.

    Disable the alert notification feature

    Set the Alert Notification Method parameter to Disabled.

    Use the same alert configuration as that of the backup vault configured for the backup plan

    Set the Alert Notification Method parameter to Same as Backup Vault.

    Send alert notifications to your Alibaba Cloud account

    Set the Alert Notification Method parameter to Notify Alibaba Cloud Account.

    Send alert notifications to custom alert contacts

    Create alert contacts and select the contacts to receive alert notifications.

    Prepare alert contacts

    If no alert contact is created or the existing alert contacts do not meet your business requirements, create an alert contact. If you want to specify multiple alert contacts for a backup plan, you can add the alert contacts to an alert contact group.

    Create an alert contact

    If a backup job fails, the system sends an alert notification to the specified alert contacts.

    1. On the Notification Contacts page, click the Contacts tab.

    2. On the Contacts tab, click Create Contact.

    3. In the Create Contact panel, enter the name and description of the alert contact.

    4. Select one or two notification methods based on your business requirements and enter an email address or a mobile number.

      • If you select Email as Notification Methods, enter the email address of the alert contact and click Send. Log on to the specified email box and view the verification code in the received email. Then, enter the verification code in the Verification Code field in the console.

      • If you select Text Message as Notification Methods, enter the mobile number of the alert contact and click Send. The system sends a verification code by text message to the mobile number. Enter the verification code in the Verification Code field.

    5. Click OK.

    Create an alert contact group

    If a backup job fails, the system sends an alert notification to all alert contacts in the specified alert contact group.

    1. On the Notification Contacts page, click the Groups tab.

    2. On the Groups tab, click Create Group.

    3. In the Create Group panel, enter the name and description of the alert contact group.

    4. In the left-side section under Contacts, select the alert contacts that you want to add to the alert contact group and click the image.png icon.

      To remove alert contacts from the alert contact group, select the alert contacts in the right-side section and click the image.png icon.

    5. Click OK.

    Specify an alert notification method

    1. In the Alert Notification Method panel, set the Alert Notification Method parameter to Custom.

    2. In the left-side section, select alert contacts or alert contact groups and click the image.png icon.

      To remove alert contacts or alert contact groups, select the alert contacts or alert contact groups in the right-side section and click the image.png icon.

  3. Click OK.

    After an alert notification method is specified for a backup plan, you can choose More > Alert Settings in the Actions column and view or change the alert notification method.
