Certificate Management Service:[Notice] File Verification is no longer supported when you apply for wildcard certificates

Last Updated:Nov 27, 2024

Dear Alibaba Cloud users,

CA/Browser Forum (CA/B) announces the latest proposal, which causes CA vendors to change their policies for issuing certificates. When you apply for a wildcard certificate by using Alibaba Cloud SSL Certificates Service, you can no longer select File Verification for domain name verification.

Effective date: From November 15, 2021, CA vendors gradually implement new verification policies for wildcard certificates.

Changes:

You can no longer upload a file to verify the ownership of a wildcard domain name, such as *.aliyundoc.com and *.abc.aliyundoc.com.

If you apply for a certificate that protects a wildcard domain name by using SSL Certificates Service, you can verify the ownership of the wildcard domain name only by adding a DNS record. For more information about how to add a DNS record to verify the ownership of a domain name, see Verify the ownership of a domain name.

Important

You can still upload a file to verify the ownership of a single domain name. A single domain name can be a second-level domain name such as aliyundoc.com or a subdomain such as www.aliyundoc.com. However, the verification may fail. We recommend that you use the DNS verification method.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your support.
