Announcement on prohibiting hyperlinks or contact information from SMS sent to Malaysia

As required by Malaysian Communication And Multimedia Commission (MCMC), from June 2024, the exemption on the limitations of SMS content will be revoked to protect sensitive information and money, considering the increasing smishing cases reported in Malaysia. The changes are subject to further notice.

Note

Generally, hyperlinks or any content that require personal information or invite phone calls are prohibited in Alibaba Cloud SMS.

In accordance with the general duty of licensees stated under Section 263 (1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, as well as Section 263 (2), the following changes are made:

From June 2024, all Person-to-Person messaging (P2P) and Application-to-Person messaging (A2P) SMS containing prohibited content will be blocked in networks.

If you must contain hyperlinks or content that invite phone calls in notifications, you can use Chat App Message Service instead.
