Server Migration Center (SMC) is a free service. However, when you use SMC to migrate servers, you are charged for the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) resources that are consumed during the migration process. This topic describes the billable items of SMC and their billing methods.
The following table describes the billable items involved in the migration of servers and their billing methods.
Billable item | Description | Billing method | References |
ECS instance (intermediate instance) | During the migration of a server, SMC automatically creates an intermediate instance. The intermediate instance is automatically released after the migration is complete. Important If a migration job that is not expired encounters an error or is paused, the intermediate instance is retained and generates fees. If you do not need to continue the migration job, you can delete the job to clear the intermediate instance and prevent unnecessary fees. | Pay-as-you-go
Cloud disk | During the migration of a server, SMC mounts a cloud disk to the intermediate instance. The cloud disk is released together with the intermediate instance after the migration is complete. Note The releases of cloud disk and intermediate instance do not affect the source server. | Pay-as-you-go
Snapshot | During the migration of a server, SMC creates intermediate snapshots for the intermediate instance to create an image. | Pay-as-you-go Note By default, snapshots are billed in pay-as-you-go mode based on the size and storage duration of snapshots.
Public bandwidth | If you create a migration job that transmits data over the Internet, the public bandwidth is consumed when data is transmitted from the migration source to the intermediate instance or the destination ECS instance. For the intermediate instance or the destination ECS instance, the traffic consumed for the migration is inbound traffic and is free of charge. | Free of charge | N/A |
Custom image | During the migration of a server, custom images are generated by using the snapshots created. | Free of charge | N/A |
