This topic describes how to create a storage capacity unit (SCU) in the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) console.
Prerequisites
You do not have overdue payments in your account.
Procedure
Log on to the ECS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
Use one of the following methods to purchase an SCU:
If one or more SCUs are created in the current region, click Create Storage Capacity Unit.
If no SCUs are created in the current region, click Purchase Now.
Configure the following parameters on the SCU buy page.

The deductible products and the corresponding deduction factors.

Effective Time
The effective time of the SCU. Valid values:
Now: The SCU takes effect on the next hour after the purchase.
Specify Effective Time: The SCU takes effect at the specified time. You can specify a point in time that is within 180 days after the SCU is purchased.

Tag
The tag that you want to add to the SCU. You can use tags to classify SCUs for easy search and batch operations.

Terms of Service
Read and select terms of service.
None
Verify the configuration cost and click Purchase.
Click Create Order and complete the payment.
Result
After you purchase an SCU, you can find it in the Creating state on the Storage Capacity Units page. When the status of the SCU changes to Running, the SCU takes effect to offset bills of eligible pay-as-you-go resources in the current region.
What to do next
Find the created SCU and click View Bill in the Actions column to go to the Billing Management console to view the hourly deduction records of the SCU.
