Resource Orchestration Service:Share a template with members in a resource directory

Last Updated:Feb 23, 2024

Alibaba Cloud provides the resource sharing feature that allows you to use a management account or member in a resource directory to share a Resource Orchestration Service (ROS) template with other members in the resource directory. This helps you manage templates in a centralized manner based on a specific account and reduces operating costs.

Prerequisites

The resource sharing feature is enabled for a resource directory. For more information, see Enable resource sharing.

Background information

You can create a resource share to share a ROS template.

Step 1: Share a ROS template in the Resource Management console

  1. Log on to the Resource Management console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Sharing > Resources I Share.

  3. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the ROS template you want to share resides from the region drop-down list.

    Note

You must create a resource share in the China (Shanghai) region because a template is a global resource.

  4. Click Create Resource Share.

  5. In the Resource Share Name field, enter a name for the resource share.

  6. In the Resources section, select ROS Template from the resource type drop-down list, select the ROS template that you want to use, such as the c304e944-6304-4dd9-8c4b-****** template, and then click Next.

  7. In the Add Principals section, add a principal with whom you want to share the ROS template.

In this example, the ROS template is shared with a member named Alice in a resource directory.

    1. Set the Add Mode parameter to Add Manually.

    2. From the Principal Type drop-down list, select Alibaba Cloud Account.

    3. In the Principal ID field, enter the ID of the member Alice.

    4. Click Add.

  8. Click OK.

Check whether the resource share is created. If the resource share is in the Enabled state, it is created.

Perform the following operations to check whether the template and the principal are added to the resource share: Click the ID of the resource share. On the Resources and Principals tabs, check whether Associated appears in the Status columns. If Associated appears in the columns, the template and the principal are added.

Step 2: Use the shared template in the ROS console

  1. Access the member Alice.

  2. In the ROS console, create a stack by using the shared template.

    1. Log on to the ROS console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Stacks.

    3. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where you want to create a stack from the region drop-down list.

    4. On the Stacks page, click Create Stack and select Use ROS from the drop-down list.

    5. In the Select Template step, select Select an Existing Template in the Specify Template section, set Template Import Method to My Templates, select the shared template from the My Templates drop-down list, and then click Next. In this example, the shared template named template_vpc01 is selected.

    6. Click Create.
