Performance Testing:Custom traffic

Last Updated:Nov 13, 2024

Performance Testing Service (PTS) allows you to customize IPv6 traffic and region-specific traffic. You can specify the geographical location of a load generator to simulate local user traffic. After you enable region-specific traffic, you can configure the regional distribution of load generators to customize the regional distribution of stress traffic.

Customize IPv6 traffic

In the Stress Mode Configuration section, IPv6 traffic is disabled by default. After you enable IPv6 traffic, you can perform stress testing on IPv6 addresses.

Note

You cannot enable IPv6 traffic for stress testing in Alibaba Cloud virtual private clouds (VPCs).

Customize region-specific traffic

In the Stress Mode Configuration section, enable Region-specific Traffic and click Add Region. Select regions and specify the number of machines allocated to each region. The number of machines allocated to a region determines the percentage of stress traffic in the region. In the Traffic Source section on the right, you can view the pie chart of traffic distribution.

Important

If you do not specify regions for stress traffic distribution, PTS randomly pulls load generators from the following regions by default: China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Qingdao), China (Shenzhen), and China (Chengdu).

If a load generator resides in the China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Qingdao), China (Shenzhen), or China (Chengdu) region when data of the stress testing metrics is sent back, the Prometheus metric data is written to the corresponding region over the VPC. In other cases, the data is written to the China (Zhangjiakou) region over the Internet by default.
