Last Updated:May 21, 2024

Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS) allows you to manage the agents that are closely related to environments and equipped with basic functionalities. As the basis of the integration center, these agents are installed when data is integrated into ARMS.

Prerequisites

Application Real-Time Monitoring Service is activated. For more information, see Activate ARMS.

Agent types

Type

Description

Prometheus agent

Collects metric data. Most components in the integration center depend on the Prometheus agent. The Prometheus agent supports three environment types: ACK environment, VPC environment, and Alibaba Cloud service environment.

Application Monitoring eBPF agent

Uses the eBPF technology to provide non-intrusive network, I/O, and process analysis capabilities. The Application Monitoring eBPF agent supports only ACK environments, and does not support ACK Serverless clusters or ACS. The agent is installed in all nodes of an ACK cluster through DaemonSets.

Application Monitoring agent controller

Provides application and Kafka monitoring capabilities that add sidecars or configurations to pods. The Application Monitoring agent controller supports only ACK environments.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Managed Service for Prometheus console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Integration Management.

  3. On the Integrated Environments tab, click the name of the environment.

  4. On the environment details page, click Configure Agent.

  5. Find an agent and click Install. After an agent is installed, you can restart or uninstall the agent, and view the self-monitoring data.
