After a subscription PolarDB cluster expires, it cannot run as expected. If you want to continue using the cluster, you must renew the cluster within a specific period of time. Otherwise, CPU, memory, and disk resources in the cluster are automatically released and data loss occurs.
Pay-as-you-go PolarDB clusters do not expire and thus do not require renewal.
Alibaba Cloud sends notifications to you before your subscription cluster expires. To prevent business interruptions, we recommend that you renew your subscription cluster at your earliest opportunity.
Renewal methods
You can manually renew or enable auto-renewal for your PolarDB cluster. The cost of renewing a subscription cluster is the same as that of purchasing a subscription cluster.
Auto-renewal
PolarDB provides the auto-renewal feature.
After you enable auto-renewal, the system first attempts to deduct fees from your Alibaba Cloud account at 08:00:00 on the ninth day before the cluster expires. If the first attempt to deduct fees fails, the system attempts to deduct fees from your Alibaba Cloud account every day for the next two days. In total, up to three attempts to deduct fees are made. Make sure that your Alibaba Cloud account has sufficient balance.
If all of the three automatic fee deduction attempts fail, you must manually renew your subscription PolarDB cluster before it expires. This prevents cluster downtime that may cause data loss.
Manual renewal
After a subscription PolarDB cluster expires, the system retains the cluster for a specific period of time before releasing the cluster. You can manually renew the cluster within this period of time. After you perform the manual renewal operation, fees are immediately deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account.
