Pay-as-you-go instances
PolarDB-X pay-as-you-go instances are billed on an hourly basis. After the specifications of a PolarDB-X pay-as-you-go instance are changed, the instance is billed based on the new specifications.
Subscription instances
If the specifications of a PolarDB-X subscription instance are changed, a price difference may exist. In this case, you must pay for the price difference, or the system refunds the price difference.
To upgrade specifications, select Upgrade and pay for the price difference based on the new specifications.
To downgrade specifications, select Downgrade. Then, the system refunds the price difference based on the new specifications.

Specifications upgrade | Payment = Total fee of the new specifications for the remaining subscription duration (Monthly price of the new specifications/30/24 × Remaining subscription duration) - Total fee of the original specifications for the remaining subscription duration (Monthly price of the original specifications/30/24 × Remaining subscription duration). For example, if the monthly price of the new specifications is CNY 14,400, the monthly price of the original specifications is CNY 7,200, and the remaining subscription duration is 50 days, the price difference that you need to pay is CNY 12,000. The price difference is calculated by using the following formula: (14,400/30/24 x 50 x 24) - (7,200/30/24 x 50 x 24) = 12,000. |
Specifications downgrade | Refund = Total fee of the original specifications for the remaining subscription duration (Monthly price of the original specifications/30/24 × Remaining subscription duration) - Total fee of the new specifications for the remaining subscription duration (Monthly price of the new specifications/30/24 × Remaining subscription duration). For example, a three-month PolarDB-X subscription instance costs USD 3,500. You used vouchers and paid USD 3,000 for the instance. After two months, the total fee of the original specifications for the remaining subscription duration is USD 1,000. If you switch to new specifications that cost USD 800 for the remaining month, the refund amount is calculated by using the following formula: 1,000 - 800 = USD 200. |
