Refund policies

The following table describes the refund policies for PolarDB-X instances.

Billing method

Refund policy

Subscription

When you purchase a PolarDB-X subscription instance, you must make an upfront payment based on the subscription duration. If you no longer require the PolarDB-X subscription instance, you can apply for a refund.

Pay-as-you-go

You are charged for a PolarDB-X pay-as-you-go instance based on your actual resource usage. If you no longer require the PolarDB-X pay-as-you-go instance, you can release the instance. Before you release the instance, make sure that you have backed up or migrated your data. After a PolarDB-X pay-as-you-go instance is released, you are no longer charged for the instance.

Take note of the following points:

  • The pay-as-you-go resources of PolarDB-X can be used together with PolarDB-X storage resources. Different discount plans are provided to offset the fees of pay-as-you-go resources. Refunds are not supported for discount plans.

  • Refunds may also be involved in the scenarios described in the following table. For more information, see the relevant documentation.

Scenario

Description

Change the billing method

After you change the billing method of a PolarDB-X instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go, the system refunds the remaining upfront payment. The refund amount is calculated by using the following formula:

Refund amount = Paid amount - Fees for consumed resources

Downgrade the specifications of a subscription instance

After you downgrade the specifications of a PolarDB-X subscription instance or reduce the number of nodes on the instance, the system refunds the price difference between the new specifications and the original specifications. The refund amount is calculated by using the following formula:

Refund amount = Paid amount - Fees for consumed resources

Cancel renewal

Before the renewal of a PolarDB-X subscription instance takes effect, you can unsubscribe from the instance. In this case, the system refunds the full renewal amount.
