The following figure shows the approximate proportion of fees for each billable item of a PolarDB cluster.
Table 1. Billable items
Billable item | Description | Billing method |
Compute nodes | Compute nodes include primary and read-only nodes. You are charged for compute nodes based on the region, specifications, and usage duration.
| Pay-as-you-go Subscription
|
Storage space | Storage space is used to store cluster data files, index files, log files, and temporary files. Log files include online and archived logs. You are charged for the storage space that your cluster uses. The fee varies based on the volume of stored data and the retention period of data.
| |
Backup storage space (charged only when the free quota is exceeded) | Backup files consume storage space. PolarDB provides a free storage quota for backup files. If the actual storage usage exceeds the quota, you are charged for the excess storage consumed by backup files. The fee varies based on the size of the data backup files and the retention period of the files.
|
Note The subscription billing method is not supported for the storage of backup files. If you select Subscription when you purchase a cluster, the subscription billing method is applied only to compute nodes. You may still be charged for other items, such as the storage of backup files. We recommend that you purchase storage plans to offset fees generated by level-1 backups. For more information, see Billing rules of backup storage that exceeds the free quota. For information about the billing rules for backup storage, see the "Pay-as-you-go" section of the Billing rules of backup storage that exceeds the free quota topic.
|
SQL Explorer (optional) | The SQL Explorer feature provides value-added capabilities, such as security auditing and performance diagnostics. After you enable this feature, you are charged for the amount of storage space consumed by audit logs. The fees vary based on the size of audit logs and the retention period of the logs.
|
Note The subscription billing method is not supported for the SQL Explorer feature. If you select Subscription when you purchase a cluster, the subscription billing method is applied only to compute nodes. You may still be charged for other items, such as the audit logs generated by the SQL Explorer feature. For information about the billing rules of SQL Explorer, see Pricing of SQL Explorer (optional).
