Expiration or overdue payments - PolarDB - Alibaba Cloud Documentation Center

When a PolarDB cluster expires or a payment becomes overdue, you can choose to renew the cluster or recharge your account to unlock the cluster. The solution varies based on the billing method of the cluster.

Warning

Service interruptions may occur when your cluster expires or a payment becomes overdue. The system notifies you of these issues at the earliest opportunity. When you receive the notifications, we recommend that you immediately recharge your account or renew the cluster to prevent service interruptions.

Suggestions

To prevent service interruptions, we recommend that you manually renew your subscription cluster or enable auto-renewal before the cluster expires. For more information, see Manual renewal or Auto-renewal.
Make sure that your account has sufficient balance.

Solutions

Cluster type	Cluster status	Solution
Subscription cluster	The cluster runs normally during the first day to the fifteenth day after the cluster expires.	You can manually renew the cluster to prevent the cluster from being unlocked after the specified period of time. For more information, see Manual renewal.
	The cluster is stopped and locked during the sixteenth to thirtieth day after the cluster expires. During this period, the cluster cannot be accessed.	You can manually renew the cluster. For more information, see Manual renewal. After the renewal, the cluster is unlocked and returns to normal.
	The cluster is released on the thirty-first day after the cluster expires. The following data retention policies apply after the cluster is released: If you set the Release Cluster parameter to Retain Last Automatic Backup (Automatic Backup before Release) (Default) or Retain All Backups when you create the cluster, the cluster data is retained and moved to cluster recycle bin when the cluster is released. If you set the Release Cluster parameter to Delete All Backups (Cannot be Restored) when you create the cluster, no data of the cluster data is retained when the cluster is released.	If the cluster is moved to cluster recycle bin after the cluster is released, you can restore the cluster by using a backup set in the cluster recycle bin. For more information, see Restore a released cluster.
Pay-as-you-go cluster and serverless cluster	If you have an overdue payment in your Alibaba Cloud account, all pay-as-you-go and serverless clusters in the account become overdue. The cluster runs normally during the first day to the fifteenth day after the cluster payment becomes overdue.	You can add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account to prevent the cluster from being shut down and locked after the specified period.
	The cluster is shut down and locked during the sixteenth day to the thirtieth day after the cluster payment becomes overdue. During this period, the cluster cannot be accessed.	You can add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account. After you add funds to your account, the cluster is unlocked and returns to normal. Note Before you add funds, check the payment methods of your Alibaba Cloud account.
	The cluster is released on the thirty-first day after the cluster payment becomes overdue. The following data retention policies apply after the cluster is released: If you set the Release Cluster parameter to Retain Last Automatic Backup (Automatic Backup before Release) (Default) or Retain All Backups when you create the cluster, the cluster data is retained and moved to cluster recycle bin when the cluster is released.
