This topic describes how to download an Object Storage Service (OSS) object from a bucket to your local computer.
Usage notes
In this topic, the public endpoint of the China (Hangzhou) region is used. If you want to access OSS from other Alibaba Cloud services in the same region as OSS, use an internal endpoint. For more information about OSS regions and endpoints, see Regions, endpoints and open ports.
In this topic, access credentials are obtained from environment variables. For more information about how to configure access credentials, see Configure access credentials.
In this topic, an OSSClient instance is created by using an OSS endpoint. If you want to create an OSSClient instance by using custom domain names or Security Token Service (STS), see Initialization.
To download an object as a local file, you must have the
oss:GetObject
permission. For more information, see Attach a custom policy to a RAM user.
Sample code
The following sample code provides an example on how to download exampleobject.txt in the testfolder directory of the examplebucket bucket to your local computer and save it to D:\localpath as examplefile.txt:
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
import oss2
from oss2.credentials import EnvironmentVariableCredentialsProvider
# The AccessKey pair of an Alibaba Cloud account has permissions on all API operations. Using these credentials to perform operations in OSS is a high-risk operation. We recommend that you use a RAM user to call API operations or perform routine O&M. To create a RAM user, log on to the RAM console.
auth = oss2.ProviderAuth(EnvironmentVariableCredentialsProvider())
# In this example, the endpoint of the China (Hangzhou) region is used. Specify your actual endpoint.
# Specify the name of the bucket. Example: examplebucket.
bucket = oss2.Bucket(auth, 'http://oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com', 'examplebucket')
# Specify the full path of the object. Do not include the bucket name in the full path. Example: testfolder/exampleobject.txt.
# Download the object to your local computer and save the object to the D:\\localpath\\examplefile.txt path. If a file that has the same name already exists, the downloaded object overwrites the file. If no file that has the same name exists, the downloaded object is saved in the path.
bucket.get_object_to_file('testfolder/exampleobject.txt', 'D:\\localpath\\examplefile.txt')
