The network performance observation feature of Network Intelligence Service (NIS) allows you to view the average latencies between Alibaba Cloud regions and other geolocations. This helps you select a suitable region or zone that has the lowest latency when you deploy services.
Legal disclaimer
The network latency data and other performance data provided by the network performance observation feature are for your reference only. Alibaba Cloud does not provide any commitment or guarantee for the accuracy and timeliness of the data. The actual network performance data shall prevail.
The network latency data displayed by the network performance observation feature is collected by probing clusters of Alibaba Cloud. The probing clusters periodically send and receive probe packets and report the aggregated data. The network performance data is displayed on the Cloud Network Performance and Internet Connection Quality pages in the NIS console. The test machines deployed in the probing clusters are isolated from your resources. They do not affect or consume your resources. The data displayed by the network performance observation feature is irrelevant to the resources that you deploy on Alibaba Cloud.

Internet access performance metrics
Internet access performance between a geolocation in the Chinese mainland and an Alibaba Cloud region:
You can view the average latency between a geolocation in the Chinese mainland and an Alibaba Cloud region.
You can view the average latency between the networks of ISPs in different geolocations in the Chinese mainland and an Alibaba Cloud region.
Internet access performance between a geolocation outside China and an Alibaba Cloud region:
You can view the average latency between a geolocation outside China and an Alibaba Cloud region.
You can view the average latencies between the networks of ISPs in different geolocations outside China and an Alibaba Cloud region.
View the Internet access performance
Log on to the NIS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
Click China or Global and select a geolocation from the drop-down list.
In the section that displays the latencies between geolocations in the Chinese mainland or outside China and an Alibaba Cloud region, move the pointer over a geolocation on the map to view the latency data.
NoteWe recommend that you select geolocations for different services based on the round-trip time (RTT) values displayed on the map.
An RTT value that is less than or equal to 10 milliseconds is suitable for industrial automation, remote driving, and ultrasonic testing services.
An RTT value that is less than or equal to 50 milliseconds is suitable for real-time multiplayer online battle games.
An RTT value that is less than or equal to 100 milliseconds is suitable for real-time interactive gaming and interactive voice services.
An RTT value that is less than or equal to 150 milliseconds is suitable for real-time interactive video services.
An RTT value that is less than or equal to 300 milliseconds is suitable for regular services.
RTT>300ms
In the section that displays the latencies between the networks of ISPs in different geolocations in the Chinese mainland or outside China and an Alibaba Cloud region, you can filter the latency data by Region, ISP, and Latency (ms).
