This topic describes how to configure an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance as the intermediate node for data migration from a third-party platform to File Storage NAS.
Prerequisites
A file system is created. For more information, see Create a file system.
Use a newly purchased ECS instance as the intermediate node for data transfer
Uploading data to or downloading data from a NAS file system consumes the Internet bandwidth of an ECS instance. We recommend that you purchase a new ECS instance and use it to upload and download data.
When you mount NAS file systems on an ECS instance, take note of the following limits:
Image: You can configure automatic mount of NAS file systems only on official images.
If you want to mount NAS file systems on a custom image created from an ECS snapshot, you can manually mount the NAS file systems after the ECS instance is created.
For Linux operating systems, see Mount an NFS file system.
For Windows operating systems, see Mount an SMB file system.
Local directory: You can specify only the root directory of NAS file systems. You cannot specify the subdirectories of NAS file systems.
When you configure a newly purchased ECS instance as an intermediate node to mount a NAS file system, make sure that you use the recommended settings. The following tables describe the recommended basic settings, network settings, and security settings. For more information, see Mount NAS file systems when you purchase an ECS instance.
Table 1. Basis settings
Parameter | Description |

Table 2. Network and security
Parameter | Description |
Public IP Address | Select Assign Public IPv4 Address. |
Bandwidth Billing | Select Pay-By-Traffic. |
Peak Bandwidth | The peak bandwidth. Maximum value: 100 Mbit/s. We recommend that you set this parameter to 100 Mbit/s. |
Use an existing ECS instance as the intermediate node for data transfer
To use an existing ECS instance as the intermediate node for data transfer, see the following topics:
For Linux operating systems, see Mount an NFS file system.
For Windows operating systems, see Mount an SMB file system.
What to do next
After you configure an intermediate node for data transfer, you need to select an appropriate migration tool to migrate data based on your business requirements. For more information, see Migrate data to a NAS file system.
