Microservices Engine:Subscription renewal

Last Updated:Apr 27, 2025

Modules provided by Alibaba Cloud Microservices Engine (MSE) support auto-renewal and manual renewal for subscription instances. You can renew a subscription instance to extend the validity period of the instance. We recommend that you select auto-renewal for your instance. This way, your instance is automatically renewed to prevent negative business impacts caused by unexpected resource expiration or release. This topic describes how to enable auto-renewal and manually renew an instance before the subscription period expires. This topic also describes how to change the renewal method from manual renewal to auto-renewal.

Modules involved in subscription renewal

Microservices Registry and Cloud-native Gateway involve subscription renewal.

Renewal methods

To ensure normal deduction of fees, you must make sure that your account balance is sufficient.

Applicable scenario

Operation time

Manual renewal

If you want to extend the validity period of an instance, you can manually renew the instance.

Before the release

Auto-renewal

If you worry about forgetting manual renewal of an instance, you can enable auto-renewal for the instance. This allows the system to automatically renew the instance before the expiration date.

Notes:

  • After you configure auto-renewal for an instance, the auto-renewal cycle is configured, and the renewal is not immediately performed. . The system attempts to deduct the auto-renewal fee for the first time on the 9th day before the instance expires. If the deduction fails, the system performs deduction every day until the day before the expiration date or until the renewal succeeds.

  • After you enable auto-renewal for an instance, you can disable auto-renewal for the instance at any time. To disable auto-renewal for an instance, you can configure non-renewal upon expiration or enable manual renewal for the instance.

One day before the expiration date

Auto-renewal

Important
  • After you configure auto-renewal for an instance, the renewal is not immediately performed. The auto-renewal cycle that you specify takes effect from the next day. After the auto-renewal cycle takes effect, the system attempts to deduct the auto-renewal fee on the 1st day before the instance expires, the expiration day, and the 6th and 14th days after the instance expires.

  • If the system fails to deduct the auto-renewal fee 14 days after the instance expires, the system stops deducting the fee. After the instance is stopped, you must manually renew the instance within the specified time.

When you create a subscription instance, enable auto-renewal on the buy page

When you purchase a subscription instance, you can select the instance on the buy page. Then, select Auto-renewal in the Duration section on the buy page. This way, the system automatically renews your instance after the instance expires.

  • If the subscription duration does not exceed 1 year (12 months), the system automatically renews your instance for 1 month after the instance expires.

  • If the subscription duration is equal to or exceeds 1 year (12 months), the system automatically renews your instance for 12 months after the instance expires.
