ApsaraDB for Memcache supports password-free access. After you enable this feature for an ApsaraDB for Memcache instance, the applications whose IP addresses are added to the whitelist can access the instance without the need to provide a password. This does not compromise data security, and allows you to use third-party applications to access ApsaraDB for Memcache in a more convenient manner.
Precautions
The ApsaraDB for Memcache instance for which password-free access is enabled must belong to the same region as the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance that you want to connect to ApsaraDB for Memcache.
By default, you cannot access ApsaraDB for Memcache over a text-based protocol. If you want to access ApsaraDB for Memcache over a text-based protocol, you must enable password-free access.
Before you enable password-free access for an ApsaraDB for Memcache instance, you must remove 0.0.0.0/0 from the IP address whitelist of the instance. Otherwise, the password-free access feature cannot take effect.
We recommend that you configure the whitelist before you enable password-free access. For more information, see Set IP whitelists.

FAQ
Why does password-free access fail to take effect after I enable password-free access?
For security reasons, if you add 0.0.0.0/0 to the whitelist, password-free access does not take effect. Check whether 0.0.0.0/0 is added to the whitelist. If 0.0.0.0/0 is added to the whitelist, remove the CIDR block from the whitelist.
Why does password-free access fail to take effect after a minor version upgrade?
For an ApsaraDB for Memcache instance of the latest version, if you add 0.0.0.0/0 to the whitelist, password-free access does not take effect. This issue does not exist in earlier versions. If you upgrade your instance to the latest version, check whether 0.0.0.0/0 is added to the whitelist. If 0.0.0.0/0 is added to the whitelist, remove the CIDR block from the whitelist.
