Add atomic words

Derived metrics in the Internet of Things Data Service require atomic words and time modifiers. The service provides default time modifiers. This document guides you through adding atomic words and accessing time modifiers.

Atomic words are the smallest units of measurement with business semantics in a metric, such as temperature, humidity, and access UV.

By default, atomic words are not predefined in the system. You can add atomic words to suit your business requirements.

In the IoT Platform console, click Overview. On the Overview tab, find the instance that you want to manage and click the instance ID or the instance name.
In the left-side navigation pane, select Data Service > Data Metric, and single click Customize Metric.
At the top right of the data list, on the Customize Metric tab, single click Lexicon Management.

On the Atomic Words tab, use one of the following methods to add atomic words:

Single click Add Atomic Words.

On the Add Atomic Words page, enter the required parameters, and single click Complete.

Parameter	Description
Metric Domain	Choose the metric domain for the atomic word. Note Ensure the metric domain aligns with that of the derived metric you wish to add.
Display Name	Enter the display name for the atomic word.
Identifier	Provide a unique identifier for the atomic word.
Measurement Unit	Select the unit type and corresponding unit. Units available are those listed on the page.
Data Type	Define the data type and its value range. For detailed descriptions of data types, single click the help button .
Statistical Criterion	Describe the business function of the atomic word.

Single click Batch Import from Product Properties.
On the Batch Import Atomic Words page, select the instance and product, then mark the check box next to the desired property name and click Import.

(Optional) To review the atomic words you've added, navigate to the Atomic Words tab.
Here, you can edit configurations or delete atomic words as needed.

View time modifiers

Time modifiers define specific time ranges within metrics.

To view time modifiers, single click the Time Modifiers tab on the Lexicon Management page. This displays descriptions that clarify the use and meaning of time modifiers.
