    Intelligent Media Services:Configure storage addresses

    Before you use features of Intelligent Media Services (IMS) such as media asset upload, media processing, and online editing, you must configure storage addresses. This topic describes how to configure storage addresses.

    Overview

    IMS allows you to store media assets in Alibaba Cloud ApsaraVideo VOD or Object Storage Service (OSS).

    Storage address type

    Scenario

    ApsaraVideo VOD

    ApsaraVideo VOD provides an all-in-one audio and video solution that supports features such as video storage, media asset management, and CDN-accelerated playback. IMS allows you to store files in ApsaraVideo VOD and use the API provided by ApsaraVideo VOD to easily develop and publish videos.

    OSS

    OSS is a secure, cost-effective, and high-durability storage service that allows you to store a large amount of data in the cloud. IMS works with OSS to support the development of audio and video services in a variety of scenarios.

    Limits

    You can add a maximum of 50 storage addresses.

    Prerequisites

    • ApsaraVideo VOD is activated and ApsaraVideo VOD storage is enabled before you add ApsaraVideo VOD storage addresses. For more information, see Activate ApsaraVideo VOD.

      You can add ApsaraVideo VOD buckets or your own OSS buckets that have been added to ApsaraVideo VOD. If no buckets are available, you can create buckets in the ApsaraVideo VOD console. ApsaraVideo VOD allocates a storage address for each storage region. After you activate ApsaraVideo VOD, you must enable storage addresses before you use them. For more information, see Manage storage buckets.

    • OSS is activated and buckets are created before you add OSS storage addresses. For more information, see Create buckets.

    Configure storage addresses in the IMS console

    1. Log on to the IMS console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Configurations > Storage Management.

    3. In the upper-left corner, select a region based on your business requirements.

      Important

      The storage region must be the same as the service region of IMS. Otherwise, file uploads fail.

    4. On the Storage Management page, click Add Storage Address. In the Add Storage Address dialog box, select ApsaraVideo VOD or OSS for the Service parameter based on your business requirements, configure the Bucket parameter, and then click OK. A maximum of 50 storage addresses can be added.

    5. Click an option in the Actions column to manage a storage address.

      Description

      Modify

      Modify the storage address. Only OSS storage addresses can be modified. ApsaraVideo VOD storage addresses cannot be modified.

      Set as Default

      Set the storage address as the default storage address. If multiple storage addresses are available, the default storage address is selected. For example, the default storage address is used for IMS features such as media asset upload and media processing.

      Set as Temporary Folder

      Set the storage address as the temporary storage address that is used to store files generated during editing.

      Delete

      Remove the storage address.

      Important

      After a storage address is removed, it cannot be used in IMS. The capabilities including media asset upload and media processing become unavailable. The content that is uploaded to the storage address will not be lost and can still be accessed as expected.
