    Global Accelerator:Create and manage basic GA instances

    Basic Global Accelerator (GA) instances use the high-quality global network bandwidth and transmission network of Alibaba Cloud to provide point-to-point acceleration services. You can use basic Global Accelerator instances to accelerate content delivery at Layer 3 (IP protocols). This topic describes how to create and manage a basic Global Accelerator instance.

    Create a basic Global Accelerator instance

    Basic Global Accelerator instances support the subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods. For more information about the billing rules of different billing methods, see Billing of subscription GA instances and Billing of pay-as-you-go GA instances.

    Create a pay-as-you-go basic GA instance

    Note

    The first time you use a pay-as-you-go Global Accelerator instance, go to the pay-as-you-go GA activation page and activate Global Accelerator as prompted.

    1. Log on to the GA console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    3. On the Basic GA Instance page, click Create Basic Instance.

    4. On the Create Basic GA Instance page, configure the following parameters, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

      Parameter

      Description

      Instance Billing Method

      Select a billing method for the basic GA instance.

      If you set this parameter to Pay-As-You-Go, the Bandwidth Billing Method parameter is set to Pay-By-Data-Transfer. For more information, see Billing of pay-as-you-go GA instances.

      Bandwidth Billing Method

      Select a bandwidth metering method.

      If you set the Instance Billing Method parameter to Pay-As-You-Go, the Bandwidth Billing Method parameter is set to Pay-By-Data-Transfer by default. The data transfer fees are managed by Cloud Data Transfer (CDT).

      After you purchase a GA instance whose bandwidth metering method is pay-by-data-transfer, you do not need to associate a basic bandwidth plan with the GA instance. For information about the billing rules of CDT, see Pay-by-data-transfer.

      Resource Group

      Select the resource group to which the basic Global Accelerator instance belongs.

      The resource group must be created in Resource Management by the current Alibaba Cloud account. For more information, see Create a resource group.

    5. Optional: Return to the GA console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance. On the Basic GA Instance page, view the basic Global Accelerator instance that you created.

    What to do next

    To use a pay-as-you-go basic Global Accelerator instance after you create the instance, you must perform the following steps:

    1. Add an acceleration area and an accelerated IP address

    2. Add an endpoint group and endpoints

    3. Associate idle accelerated IP addresses with endpoints or Associate accelerated IP addresses with endpoints

    Note

    After you purchase a basic Global Accelerator instance, you can move the pointer over the ID of the Global Accelerator instance on the Instances page and click Pending Configuration to view the configuration progress of the Global Accelerator instance and the next step.

    Create a subscription GA instance

    1. Log on to the GA console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    3. On the Basic GA Instance page, click Create Basic GA Instance.

    4. On the Create Basic GA Instance page, configure the following parameters, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.

      Parameter

      Description

      Instance Billing Method

      Select a billing method for the basic GA instance.

      If you set this parameter to Subscription, the Bandwidth Billing Method parameter is set to Pay-By-Bandwidth. For more information, see Billing of subscription GA instances.

      Bandwidth Billing Method

      Select a bandwidth metering method.

      If you set the Instance Billing Method parameter to Subscription, the Bandwidth Billing Method parameter is set to Pay-By-Bandwidth by default. The bandwidth fees are offset by the basic bandwidth plan that is associated with the GA instance.

      After you purchase a GA instance whose bandwidth metering method is Pay-By-Bandwidth, you must associate a basic bandwidth plan with the GA instance. For more information about the bandwidth plan billing rules, see Subscription basic bandwidth plans.

      Subscription Duration

      Select the subscription duration of the basic Global Accelerator instance.

      Select Auto-renewal. (Make sure that your account balance is sufficient.) to enable the auto-renewal feature for the basic Global Accelerator instance.

      Resource Group

      Select the resource group to which the basic Global Accelerator instance belongs.

      The resource group must be created in Resource Management by the current Alibaba Cloud account. For more information, see Create a resource group.

      Coupon

      Specify whether to use coupons.

      By default, Do Not Use Coupons is selected. You can also select a coupon from the drop-down list.

    5. Optional: Return to the GA console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance. On the Basic GA Instance page, view the basic Global Accelerator instance that you created.

    What to do next

    To use a subscription basic Global Accelerator instance after you create the instance, you must perform the following steps:

    1. Associate a basic bandwidth plan

    2. Add an acceleration area and an accelerated IP address

    3. Add an endpoint group and endpoints

    4. Associate idle accelerated IP addresses with endpoints or Associate accelerated IP addresses with endpoints

    Pay-as-you-go GA instances

    Update the basic information about a basic Global Accelerator instance

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    2. On the Basic GA Instance page, find the Global Accelerator instance that you want to manage, move the pointer over the instance name, and then click the 编辑 icon.

    3. In the dialog box that appears, change the name of the GA instance and click OK.

    Delete a pay-as-you-go basic Global Accelerator instance

    You can delete pay-as-you-go basic Global Accelerator instances.

    Warning

    If you delete the instance, all resources of the instance, such as accelerated IP addresses, are immediately released. Traffic is no longer forwarded to the instance, and you cannot restore the instance. Make sure that data migration is complete.

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    2. On the Basic GA Instance page, find the basic GA instance that you want to delete and click Delete Instance in the Actions column.

    3. In the message that appears, click OK.

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    2. On the Basic GA Instance page, find the Global Accelerator instance that you want to manage, move the pointer over the instance name, and then click the 编辑 icon.

    3. In the dialog box that appears, change the name of the GA instance and click OK.

    Renew a subscription basic GA instance

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    2. On the Basic GA Instance page, find the Global Accelerator instance that you want to renew and click Renew in the Actions column.

    3. On the Renew page, configure the Duration parameter, read and agree to the Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now to complete the payment.

    Replace a basic bandwidth plan

    You can replace a basic bandwidth plan that is associated with a GA instance. This allows you to use a basic bandwidth plan that meets your requirements. The GA instance continues to forward network traffic when you replace the basic bandwidth plan.

    After you replace the original basic bandwidth plan, the original basic bandwidth plan is disassociated from the GA instance and the new basic bandwidth plan is associated with the GA instance.

    Before you replace a basic bandwidth plan, make sure that another basic bandwidth plan is purchased. The bandwidth provided by the new basic bandwidth plan must be greater than or equal to the total bandwidth that is allocated to acceleration areas. For more information, see Purchase and manage basic bandwidth plans.

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Basic Instance.

    2. On the Basic GA Instance page, find the Global Accelerator instance that you want to manage and click Replace Basic Bandwidth Plan in the Actions column.

    3. In the Replace Basic Bandwidth Plan dialog box, select the basic bandwidth plan that you want to use and click OK.

      • Resource Group: Select the resource group to which the basic bandwidth plan that you want to use belongs.

      • Bandwidth Plan to Use: Select a basic bandwidth plan from the drop-down list.

        You can select only a basic bandwidth plan that is in the Idle state.

    Unsubscribe from a subscription basic Global Accelerator instance

    You can unsubscribe from subscription basic Global Accelerator instances. Before you unsubscribe from a basic GA instance, check whether you meet the conditions for unsubscription and make sure that data is migrated. For more information, see Refund policies.
