ENS:Overview

Last Updated:Feb 06, 2025

This topic describes how to get started with Edge Node Service (ENS).

Prerequisites

An Alibaba Cloud account is created and real-name verification is completed.

Usage notes

  • Before you use ENS, read Usage notes and Limits to confirm that the capabilities and SLA of ENS meet your business requirements.

  • We recommend that you use CloudMonitor to view and subscribe to ENS system events and learn about ENS node cutovers, instance exceptions, and network exceptions to prevent service interruptions.

  • If an error is returned after you call an API operation or perform an operation in the ENS console, check whether the request parameters and the parameter values are valid based on the returned error code. For more information, see Error Codes. You can also use the OpenAPI problem diagnosis platform to perform self-service diagnostics based on the returned request ID or SDK error information.

Billing methods

You are billed for resources, such as instances, public bandwidth, disks, ELB, and EIPs, in ENS based on the pay-as-you-go or subscription billing method. For more information, see Billing overview.

Create and use an ENS instance

  1. Activate ENS: Enter information for activating ENS based on your business requirements.

  2. (Optional) Create a custom image: The ENS console allows you to create a custom image by using an image builder. You can use a custom image to create an ENS instance or upgrade an image.

  3. Create an instance: You can create ENS instances in the console and specify the configuration and distribution of edge computing power. ENS intelligently selects edge nodes and distributes the computing power. You can also create networks and disks with the instances as needed.

  4. Launch the service: The service is launched after the test is passed. You can manage ENS instances, use edge network services, and monitor data in the ENS console.
